I have just heard the comments made by the German Finance minister and am now determined to vote out. Not sure if that was his intentions but it worked for me.
OK, so the most powerful finance minister in Europe tells you that if you vote to leave Britain will be denied free access to the world's most lucrative market and might instead have to pay tariffs and your reaction is that you are now even keener to vote out. I really do think I've heard it all now....
I thought we won the war. Say NO to being run by Germany. We must leave the EU. Who is he to say we will be denied access to Europe. Unless as we all suspected the EU is being run by Germany.
Of course I assume Lidl and Aldi and other German companies in the U.K. will have to pay tariffs if they want to stay in the U.K.

Two things, the German government threatening us goes down like a lead balloon with most Brits, and Tariffs work both way.
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

We won the war but in case you hadn't noticed, we lost the peace. In large part because we decided against joining the common market when it was first formed, and have been playing catch up ever since.

1) I don't think its a threat so much as a simple statement of facts. The Brexiteers are calling for us to leave but haven't got a clue what our future trading arrangements are going to be. That is an incredible risk and completely irresponsible.
2) Not entirely. So our trade with the EU is worth almost 50% of our total exports. But the most exports of any one EU country to us is just 9% of their exports. So in other words we alone are much more dependent on them than 27 other countries are on us. So they will have the trump cards in any negotiations. In the tv debate Farage even admitted our GDP might well be lower post Brexit and Lord Lawson and others have admitted we might have to pay extra tariffs.
All you guys might be super rich, but I can't afford that...

Don't forget Mercedes, Porsche, all of the VW group, BMW, Ford Germany, Opel etc etc etc etc
Tariffs won't happen, trade will continue as normal, it is not in Germany's interest, or the French.

Catch up with what? 40% youth unemployment? I hope we don't catch up then

You don't think that is a threat
We have a £80 billion a year defecit with them, how will tariffs work in there favour if we put the same tariffs on the EU's goods?

Not sure where you get your information

So you think the threats are going to make the LEAVE campaign change their mind. Also, something which nobody has mentioned, I assume if the economy will suffer if we leave, when we joined the economy improved. Wrong. The problems in the 70s were nothing to do with us joining the EU but due to oil prices which caused high inflation. At the moment the economy is relatively stable mostly due to low oil prices. This could change and would have a much higher impact on the economy than if we leave the EU.
Not sure where you get your statistics on exports from. You keep mentioning them but I have not been able to find this information. As previously stated our biggest exporter is the U.S. and they are the only country we have a trade surplus. Also these exports are increasing month on month. This is basically because it is technological information and intelligence for which there will always be a demand.
I think by now the people who have decided how they are going to vote will not change their minds as they put their own twist on all the remarks made. The undecided possibly won't be able to decide either way, as nothing is really being said which will make them decide. It is unfortunate that there have been no cohesive debates.
I was speaking with an immigration solicitor yesterday regarding what will happen to the EU citizens who are already in the U.K. if we vote to leave and no agreement is made regarding immigration. The citizens who joined the EU after 2006 (Rumanians and Bulgaria) will not have the right to stay. Citizens who have been here more than 5 years should apply for residency as they will then be able to stay. Other citizens will be required to obtain a work visa. Citizens who are working legally will probably find this easy to obtain but citizens who have no jobs or are not working here legally could be asked to leave.

Didn't we have the period of we "never had it so good" before we threw our hats in with the Europeans.

We might be super rich ? You're losing it more than the remain camp Stains. If, for whatever reason, leaving the eu guarantees to hit you in the pocket directly then fair enough, why not just say that. Let's remind ourselves that it was you who said the low paid/ low skilled workers of this country needed to either put up or shut up when it came to being undercut by cheaper labour migrating from poorer countries within the eu. Or have you forgotten ?
