I got mocked for saying Marti is one of the best managers in this division. Compare to the state Gareth left us in and he's produced miracles. If he's given some eze money their is no reason he can't get us out of this division. Great result

He's done ok but he's not the second coming.

I agree with better players Marti is capable of getting us promoted. But some of the performances under him have been nothing short of pathetic and he cannot say he's faultless in those bad runs.
I'm more than happy to see him in charge next season. Hopefully he'll have the players to do better and he'll be able to motivate them over 46 games to get consistently into the top 10.
Like everyone this season, Marti needs to look at himself and wonder what he could have done better to get a few more wins.
I very much doubt bigger clubs will be trying to take Marti away from us for next season!!!

We have again started to show some promising signs but have done so before this season (Derby 4-0 e g) and this has quickly dissipated. Thankfully we are now safe. I hope Marti makes the most of our remaining games. For me this would include not selecting Cook or Paal whilst definitely starting with Madsen, Anderson and Frey.
IF we are 100% certain not to keep Edwards (hope we can) then let's try a formation without him, to see the effect that has. We should also make up our minds about Ashby.
The period up to the start of next season is going to be so interesting and starts now. With or without Eze money).
Well fought all the players and brilliant support as always from the fans.

Great performance better team for the whole game. Dictated the play For the most of it, Yang wasteful in front of goal should’ve scored at least 2 of those chances, we get a proper striker on and score. As someone stated already that we need to manage Frey’s fitness and needs to play more games. Had all the better chances. And kept them relatively quiet, a team who haven’t lost at home since November. And then what a strike never knew he had that in his locker , we’ve never seen it before. Only downside being injury to Siato looked like a dislocated shoulder, which probably means the last we’ll see of him this season ,let’s hope there’s an option to buy, and we do. Same for Edwards but feel he may be used by saints or out of our price range.
safety at last

Strange game. We didn't properly get going until after going 1-0 down. This is something we need to sort out cos Preston were a limited neanderthal team and we should have got after them from the get-go.
Luckily, Preston opted to sit deeper in 2nd half and protect their slender undeserved lead but we took control of midfield and started bossing the game and were duly rewarded with two most excellent goals. I was about 10 rows back so that was two sweet moments watching our elated scorers savour the moment in front of us.
I'd hesitate to single anyone out cos it was a solid effort by all and handled tactically well by Marti. However, was great to see Madsen spraying some sublime passes about. A midfield trio of Field, Varane and Madsen could be a potent trio next season.
Nice prolonged scenes at end with players celebrating in front of us for a good while. Yes, many of them will be gone over the summer but they are clearly a tight bunch who appreciate their supporters. We need to "bottle" this sort of energy and connection to go forwards with.

His gait and languid demeanour are deceptive - he is quicker than he looks if that makes sense? He glides along surprisingly fast.
He definitely reads the game and sees the options around him, it's like he's planning his pass before he's got the ball. I think he needs like minded players around him to thrive though.
Obviously one swallow does not a summer make but hopefully today we saw glimpses of the baller that he is and can be week-to-week.

There's a very good player in there if we can get it out of him. His range of passing recently has been top drawer.

A win would mean that neither Plymouth or Luton could catch us irrespective of their results. If Cardiff lose at Sheff Utd and Derby lose at home to Luton neither of those two could catch us either.
Obviously the Championship being what it is everyone (including us) will lose/draw and mathematical safety will drag onto Monday.
I think the most depressing angle for Friday is a draw will probably suit us and PNE down to the ground. If the game is level at HT you could see the 2nd half petering out into a training exercise of keep ball with no over commitment.
I have a ticket so hopefully my pessimism is misplaced and both teams will serve up a Good Friday jamboree of entertainment and goals.
BTW.... all our remaining games are on Sky. Might be a good time to get a 1-month Now Sports pass for £30? Is a bit steep but you'll get 4 of our games plus all other stuff for 30 days. One thing, it'd run out before the play-off finals though.

Thanks for the vote of confidence but no, I cant cope with any sort of routine or responsibility - am happy for "normal service" to matchday threads to continue.
I think this Easter week was quiet on here, I was bored and thought I'd kick off the PNE thread. I knew the moderation/admin on here was easy-going and there'd be no complaints.
Leave it as I'd be a backstop if ever you/whoever got distracted by life events and a matchday thread needed kicking off.

The best thing about the last few games is, for no real reason other than pride and being a porfessional football team, we've gone out and got the results, with decent performaces. This is all i wanted to see to convince me Marti is the man for the summer window.
If we'd continued to slump and play poorly i'd question it.
I still expect a better start to next year than the last season, who doesn't!? But very happy things are looking bright on the pitch the last few weeks.
