fighting to survive in the Championship, Queens Park Rangers may now be without not one but two players in a tough test against promotion contenders Burnley this weekend.
Celar doesn't deserve to start. He can't play up from on his own. Too lightweight. We can all see it. Always on his heels too. Wasted good money on a guy that doesn't suit our style. We need an ugbo/adebayo type player not a stand still and then when it comes to me I can't get hold of the ball type. Another conor washing line!!! Crap
That line up is pretty much what I would choose. Problem is I would expect the better teams in this league to turn us over without breaking a sweat. We need to start getting three points against bottom half teams on a regular basis to recover ourselves.
Whilst he had his limitations still can't believe we let Dykes go for next to nothing and left ourselves with two first team strikers with next to no experience of this league or country. Criminal incompetence.
Best we can hope for is Marti does a reset to last season, makes us solid again with a view to looking to nick narrow wins and draws more often than not. We have same back line save for Nardi who seems decent enough. Chair now back and will hopefully get up to speed relatively quickly, Dembele decent replacement for Willock and have others. Varane starting to look better after an uncertain start. No reason we can't do it but need to actually do it, stop the tippy tappy and if players are taking a while to settle in then limit their playing time until they do and if any are genuine duds then take it on the chin.

Very well written and factual post. Tend to agree with most of it. Completely agree with the incompetence of selling dykes on the cheap. I think many fans on here that couldn't give a toss and were rather pleased with that deal would certainly have regrets with that mindset. It was definitely a roll of a dice that has certainly backfired and I think Nourry has to take responsibility for that decision. We've been lucky that Frey has massively improved this season, imagine the sorry state we'd be in if that hadn't happened. With regards to dembele don't get me wrong I really like the lad. I do think it's far to early to class him as a decent replacement for willock. I think when Marti came in and only made a few obvious common sense tweeks Willock was a huge factor in our turn around. Dembele certainly has the attributes to become a very good player but as we know the way chair and willock understood each others game inside out I think we're going to lack that understanding on the pitch. The team is certainly playing like they've never met.
Same as last season there would be an early Xmas present.
2 seasons ago actually... a key moment in Wild Thing's legendary "Great Escape" that season. Can't blame you for losing track of time though - there's a dreadful beigeness spread over us since at least 2020 and it all feels like a never ending treadmill of mediocrity irrespective of the personnel.
I'm sure Burnley have amongst the lowest shots on target in the division - maybe they like fannying around doing the old tickytacky football too? Could be an absolute bore festival to behold but possibly opens door to us doing another smash and grab on them. Looks like nice mild afternoon up there Saturday so I shall head to Turf Moor with mild optimism.

Agree absolutely 100% mate! Celar is crap and I wouldn’t mind if he never plays for our first team again! The lad even looks like and plays like he doesn’t want to be here! Get rid ASAFP, hopefully in Jan window. But unlike letting Dykes go with no replacement, we need 2 x new strikers in at least!
Additionally as Kolli is in dispute and not available to be selected (bloody ridiculous if you ask me!) and Lloyd although gives more effort than Celar, is just too raw at the moment but a good option off the bench?
I’d play both Smyth and Saito as WBs; Dunne, Cook and JCS as a back 3; Varane, Morgan and Field as a 3 in CMF; leaving 2 out of Chair, Dembele and Anderson to play the 2 remaining false 9 positions. It looks like our only option!
Celar MUST NOT be selected or we will be playing with 10 men!!!!

I think it was rumoured that Brum put Dykes on £25k a week which we just couldn't match for very little scoring. I also think we had him on circa £16k a week. We got £1m for a striker that scored 6 on 41 games is great business. Selling Dykes was great business and shoandnt be confused with wasting it on Celar.
Dykes and Frey are similar players and the latter is better in my opinion.

Time is getting blurred and speeding up as I get older for sure!
I'm happy with Morgan / Verane / Field and hopefully we can nick a point.
With an eye for goal but lacking pace could Madsen play as a nos 10.......?

People were slating Frey last season. I don't think there's a striker on the planet who'd look any good playing up front on their todd for us. Spending all match wondering when the ball might get walked up your end, making umpteen runs and movements that are all futile and all whilst being marked by 2 or 3 players that can physically match you. All they can do is stay disciplined, don't get tempted out wide or back and remain resolutely in the 18yd corridor in final third. Maybe eventually someone will play you in. To me, only difference between Frey and Celar is Frey's had all year to adapt and he has self-belief. I think Celar's confidence is getting drained week by week - hopefully a goal or two will re-invigorate him.
