Nothing between the teams til the goal.
2nd half we were really really poor .
Nothing in midfield , pick up no 2nd balls , compete half heartily and lack any energy and pace .
Something has to change or were in trouble .

Well yes and no, with 10 men we were always going to be up against it, but before the sending off we were only managing to frustrate Blackburn. We failed to register a shot on target in the entire first half, so it's not like it made a great difference to our attacking play.

Replaced deadwood with deadwood it would appear.

I'm not sure that's true, we've got 3 of our best players missing at the moment in Chair, JCS and Colback. We still lack depth of squad but we've got better now than we had last season when all are fit. There's also Morrison and Fox to return eventually.

I don't think the sending off is any excuse. After 5 mins we had reverted to the familiar slow, plodding, unadventurous walking football that has characterised the majority of our games. We look like minnows playing giants, minnows who only want to "hang in there'' or exist in the game on the off chance the opposition make a mistake. It's just dull. It's effing boring and it's not working.
I've got my Derby ticket, thought I was being a clever-dick buying it with the Rovers ticket and only paying one booking fee but now I'm not feeling so smug. Gotta be honest, if we turn in another shitshow next week there will have to be some questions about Marti's methodology - it's got to stage where simply "not being Ainsworth" doesn't get him off the hook - he has to be judged on results and performances now.

We had the best chance in the first half by a country mile when Smythe dragged his shot wide.

Play with any type of speed and there'll be calls that we play direct football. People over analysing things and trying to reinvent the game. It used to be very simple.......keeper kicks it out and you get the ball to the striker through the middle or via the wingers. I loved football in the 80s when teams played with two CFs. The game is over thought.

OK before I post.
Marti must stay, Varane must stay, Smyth is a good player.
I blame the ref for some mind-boggling decisions.
But .....I don't like and i don't think our tippy tappy around the back four helps us in any way .
Apparently we played different last season being more direct.
I know Marti likes this stuff but we don't have primarily the midfield to do it.
You need a ball carrier, a player who is on the half turn when he receives the ball.
Ours are always facing our goal and playing backwards.
And we need forwards who can run the channels, looking for that ball in behind.
QPR constantly play in front of the opposition, like we're putting on a show.
I notice Cook seems to be the player who plays long diagonals.
That's fine but mix it in with the rest I believe we need.
We have tricky players, let them be more direct

Tbh Marti needs to work out who will inject some pace into cm chair or dembele madsen and varane field colback all to similar colback has more about him than the others but new signings are poor slow predictable too safe

smyth a impact sub at most were turgid to watch play same balls time after time chair obviously a huge loss sooner the better he’s back

also these 12.30 ko are ok every now and then but ffs we’ve had 1 ? This season

How Smyth makes a living of being a footballer is hard to work out. The chance in the first half is almost inexcusable. Professional footballer and he manages to miss the whole of the goal somehow and then holds his head like he's just hit the woodwork after a hitting a 30 yarder!! Ffs. Do your job man. He's just not good enough for this level. The sooner chair is back the better. I'm sure other players must look at Smyth and think, jez this lad is poor. Only thing is that we have a few of them right now!!

A note on Mr. Travis the Blackburn captain, well done on your hollywood acting audition for most over the top reaction to a foul on a football pitch award. Probably gets the Oscar for that! What a complete ar5e hole!! He must have had a boring childhood if that the worst thing he's ever witnessed. First class ######.

Varane will learn from that though. Give him a break. Hopefully Ashby will get a run now as it seems Santos isn't up to much at all. Let's hope colback and chair are OK for Tues night.

I felt we didn’t do what other teams do when down to ten men- breaking the play up with endless mini injuries. I find Smyth a mixed bag and finishing is the issue. Odd as in his first stay I remember a great finish from him with the outside of his boot. That said very poor decision by ref to disallow his ‘goal’. Sending off seemed harsh to me as his boot wasn’t high at all. Need Chair back to receive ball and turn.

I like Smyth! Seems I'm in the minority here, but he has pace and does tend to make things happen. His crossing and finishing could be better though. Arguably he's better as an impact sub, but he definitely has a role to play at this moment in time.

Smyth has been wildly slashing shots off target in virtually every appearance he makes. He's like Raheem Sterling - you just know he's gonna miss. I used to think at least he's getting into positions and getting a shot-off but he must've missed at least 10 shots on the trot now and it's become really annoying.
