IAN Gillard will be in The Forever R’s Bar on Saturday when we play host to Norwich City at MATRADE Loftus Road.


The R's legend, who made 484 outings for the club between 1968 and 1982, will be conducting a Q&A with club ambassador Andy Sinton.

This will be taking place in The Forever R's Bar at approximately 2pm.

Gillard - our second-highest appearance maker of all time behind Tony Ingham (548) - was a crucial part of arguably our greatest ever side of 1975/76, and also played in our FA Cup finals against Tottenham in 1982.

He was named Life President of The Forever R's, our ex-players' association, in 2016.

The Forever R’s Bar has replaced the Blue & White Bar and is located in the Loftus Engineering Stand.

Please note, only supporters with a valid match ticket for the Upper or Lower Loft will be able to access the Forever R’s Bar prior to kick-off.

Difficult one. They should be doing better than they are and have a decent squad but have been inconsistent. Flipside is we have most of our players available and up to four newbies who have now had time to bed in. Also gives us a strong bench with options on there to change things around during the game which we have not had for a long time.

I fancy us having a chance in any game anywhere in this division if we turn up and don't put in a Huddersfield type performance.

Am praying we are up for it and will go for 2-1 win.

That's the key. If you think about it, our record in cup ties is diabolical. But what is a "cup tie"..... its a one-off winner-takes-all game. So, by building up the Hudd game into a massive must-win 6-pointer we basically created a "cup" game and turned in a typical QPR cup performance: wet, limp, insipid and lumpen.

We've got to avoid the "6-pointer" mentality and focus on approaching each game as equally important. Come out on the front foot and keep the energy and concentration levels high, basic stuff really.

Despite the Hudd draw we do have some momentum and the new signings can only add to that - I feel we can definitely get something against Norwich. 2-0 home win.

Are Frey and Dykes similar types of players, but the former can score more. Perhaps Dykes in the slightly withdrawn role and Frey up top?

Armstrong has messed up too many chances of late and would personally use him to replace Frey on 70mins when he runs out of steam.

Got to say, GK and back 4 pick themselves these days (when all fit). MF I think EDB did well for us (and always has to be honest) vs Blackburn, so I think it sends out a positive message to him and the whole squad that whoever plays well when in possession of the shirt stays in.

Therefore, maybe only change I’d make is perhaps Hodge to start ahead of Dykes. Took his goal well, tidy all round play and to just have a MF breaking and getting into forward areas ahead of the front player/s is so refreshing.

One thing is for sure though…We simply can’t play Frey and Dykes in the same line up, it’d surely be the slowest striker pairing in our history won’t it? lol.

I think the team is pretty much spot on, with Dykes moving to the bench if the ref can count to twelve. Field is banned.

To me, it is very close between Willock and Smyth. Willock starting and Smyth on after 55-60 min might be the best option.

I don't think Frey and Andersen will be starters for a while, but they make our bench much stronger.

Then I'd say like you it's a toss up between Willock and the 2 strikers. Personally i'd start with Willock and Dykes, using Smyth or Sinclair for Willock, then Frey for Dykes.

I'm actually really feeling it this morning. We all know this is a huge game and so much so we all realise this game shapes our season. The home record certainly rings alarm bells and these bells are getting louder and louder. If we don't turn our home form around then we will be relegated so it starts today for me. I think it's sum up our season that I haven't a clue what side is going to turn up. Heading off now so let's create an atmosphere chaps that will inspire.
