And as I said, Wycombe could not go out and buy ball playing creative players. With their budget, what they lacked in skill they made up for in grit. Im not questioning your stats but he got a small club competing with the L1 boy boys.

I have seen the Rs play live under GA and did not see the ball launched from defence to attack and constantly missing out the midfield. But considering how lacking in confidence the defence is I think its wise to clear the lines as quick as possible.

It wasnt that long ago this MB was awash with negative comments about the ball being knocked around the defence snd midfield without going any where apart from an eventual back pass to the keeper.

Whatever style you want to call it, I want the ball away from the back four and up to the attackets through the midfield as quickly as possible. Better the ball in their half of the pitch than see us p1$$ing about with the ball in our half.

No . direct football is not called a high press.
Direct football is getting the ball from back to front as quickly and directly as possible .ie hoof ball , Ainsworths style, he isn't a tactical manager just a motivator that gets players running and busting a gut for him.
A high press is when your players press the opposition high up the pitch to try and win the ball back in your attacking areas.
I said it as soon as Ainsworth was appointed , it was a bad appointment and even if by a miracle we stay up this year , i am sure he will take us down next season . It is the fault of our owners and director of football appointing Ainsworth and i actually feel sorry for him and wish he'd stayed at Wycombe.
This club has been turned into an embarrassment by Fernandes and his cronies .

if it was the last game, your comment would be understandable. There was a clear return to the previous style of play. Which I wouldn’t be surprised if that was instructed from above. It was a markedly different style, a return to passing, despite Ainsworth insisting he would keep his “direct” approach in the last games post match interview.(Brum). Indicates he has been told to change it.

The opening 5 games - less so Blackburn, as Ainsworth came in late and probably didn’t want to disrupt preparations. But the next 4. Were all hoofball by design, by intention. All our ball players, centre half’s, and centre mids, were hitting it first time, under instruction, for a long ball. It was more like watching Rugby than football.

I kind of knew from the outset that appointing Ainsworth was a PR move to appease the fans who were moaning about the board, les etc.

Also his style of play of just hoofing it long and hoping for the best just doesn't cut it, I struggle to see how we can get anywhere with that style, youve got to remember this is a squad that was built to control the ball and move it quickly.

We need a complete reset in the summer, regardless of what league we are in.

I have a bad feeling Les could well throw Ainsworth under the bus to save his own skin, again.

You have evidently not seen Ainsworths style at Wycombe, or understand his football philosophy, which he is very public about.

Wycombe regularly posted the worst possession stats in league 1. They were the most direct team going, back to front, missing out the midfield.

It seems you have also not seen the opening 6 games of Ainsworths QPR managerial career, as the “football” has been truly awful.

The squad is not set up for hoof ball, and it is an extremely dumb decision to change to this style at this point in the season. But, of course, he would do -as he doesn’t believe in anything else, and frankly doesn’t know anything else: he has zero experience of coaching any other style. We’ve got from bad to worse. And questions need to be asked.

This squad is never available. That`s the problem. Forget the style of play.

The returnees had a run out last week and have been training this week. I think we'll win on Sat or at least get a draw.

Didnt notice that in the Brum game - apart from the last 15 mins when we were chasing the game. Moving the ball first time isnt hoof ball. I didnt see aimless balls whacked up field. Perhaps Im blind.....or just excited to see the Rs.

He also said…

Underdogs in every game? We’ve played most sides in the bottom six. Personally, I find this comment incredibly alarming.

And he bills himself as a positive guy. Hidden, and not very well, are a multiple negative comments. He is a walking contradiction.

Individual errors are significant but we've created fk all in most games I simply don't see us improving

Les sold us another dummy that fits poundland budgets imo were playing route 1 hoof and win the 2nd ball fk me we don't win 22nd ball

A bit of both but those comments are simply not true. You can say alot by not saying much at all.

There is alot riding on the way we play in the next couple of matches. Even if we lose both but play in a manner that reflects the names on the team sheet then it shows some posiitve signs for the future, relegation or not. If we continue to play in a manner that has been discussed regularly on this forum then we're in a big pickle. Because we will likely go down if not this year then next year, and do so in a manner that reinvents this football clubs style, and not for the positive.

Right now we should be results driven and anyone with a eye for the game can see this is not a physical side, we should be setting up in ways that plays to the strengths of the squad. At this moment that's to build confidence at the back ( 3 central defenders with wingbacks ) and work bloody hard on the training pitch on set pieces. Then the transition to midfield, not bypassing it, having 2 leaders in the middle of the pitch that can rally. Then having options in final third, right now that's setting up with our creative number 10 options and 1 striker, because the defence does not have the luxury of losing a player.

The ball needs to be moved forward quickly and with numbers, but with intent and to feet or into space if by chance we find ways of creating it. Simple fundamentals are what is needed at the moment. Get to the byline and cut it back, press the opposition into mistakes, don't let teams get into the game. It's really not rocket science and I think GA is trying to change too much about this team for the sake of grabbing afew points.
