That is pretty much the team that did so well earlier on in the campaign so in theory should be able to do the business. Only slight niggle is one upfront at home. Could take out one of the midfielders and put in Lowe or Armstrong.

Based on recent games we would have to score in the first minute to get the first goal!

These players showed under Warburton and Beale that they are more than good enough. Injuries have decimated the team for months but that excuse has now gone as almost all are back.

My concern is the lack of match beteeen players and manager. Players are recruited to fit a posession based style of play, something the manager has no experience with. As long as this mismatch presists I cannot see that things will improve.

I think Ainsworth may enjoy some success once he can recruit his style of players (hoof ball), and that might happen in League One next season. But as long as Ainsworth is around all hopes of a successful future are gone as I see it. To suceed we need to develop players that PL teams will buy and that will not happen with Ainsworth style.

This is an under rated / observed comment and very true.

Ainsworth does have to show he can setup in another manner, most don't think he can but it's a relegation battle at the moment.

What I think is more interesting immediately is will we be better off going down or not, in the long run?

I don't see an overhaul coming any other way and I don't just mean playing personnel. It would be financially perilous but we have a better chance of coming back stronger.

If this team, and this manager are here next year, plus or minus afew signings, i don't see us acheiveing anything other than a similar league position next year (lower half just above relegation zine at best).

GA hss been involved in football for 30+ years. Of course he has experience of possession based football......

At Wycombe I doubt he had the budget to afford even L1 ball players. At Qpr he will continue to play possession based football whilst also getting some players who can mix it up. The last 10-15 mins might also involve some direct balls into the box if we're chasing a game.

We have seen whst can happen when you get too many ball players into a side......we become a soft team. Bringing in more aggressive players wont be a GA style, its what every side needs.

Moving the ball at pace isnt direct play, thats when your CBs launch the ball over the heads of the midfield from the start. That style of play will never happen under GA.

So much football snobery and stereotyping about.

More damning is the fact that most of GA's losses have come against useless garbage teams that were below us in the league. I have no idea if club can afford to sack Ainsworth but another defeat on Saturday and I'd get shot of him and install Stef as caretaker til end of season. We cant just continue sleepwalking into League One with gutless defeats every week - Ainsworth has not shown any indication at all that he's up to the job of getting a tune out of this team.

It seems a couple of other clubs have been successful too, but if we are basing competing in the Championship on the philosophy of a £15 million sale every 3 seasons, then I believe we have been a bit niave and greedy in keeping the likes of Chair, Willock, Dieng. I think if we genuinely did get any interest over £10 million for them, then we should have bitten other teams hands off, unfortunately I do not believe there was such interest.

Wycombe regularly posted the worst possession stats in league 1. They were the most direct team going, back to front, missing out the midfield.

It seems you have also not seen the opening 6 games of Ainsworths QPR managerial career, as the “football” has been truly awful.

The squad is not set up for hoof ball, and it is an extremely dumb decision to change to this style at this point in the season. But, of course, he would do -as he doesn’t believe in anything else, and frankly doesn’t know anything else: he has zero experience of coaching any other style. We’ve got from bad to worse. And questions need to be asked.

And as I said, Wycombe could not go out and buy ball playing creative players. With their budget, what they lacked in skill they made up for in grit. Im not questioning your stats but he got a small club competing with the L1 boy boys.

I have seen the Rs play live under GA and did not see the ball launched from defence to attack and constantly missing out the midfield. But considering how lacking in confidence the defence is I think its wise to clear the lines as quick as possible.

It wasnt that long ago this MB was awash with negative comments about the ball being knocked around the defence snd midfield without going any where apart from an eventual back pass to the keeper.

Whatever style you want to call it, I want the ball away from the back four and up to the attackets through the midfield as quickly as possible. Better the ball in their half of the pitch than see us p1$$ing about with the ball in our half.

Is direct football now called a high press by those who want to reinvent the game?
