Up next for the R’s is a home game against Bristol City. The Robins have started the season strongly and, although they were beaten 3-1 at Reading on Saturday lunch-time, they currently sit sixth in the Championship table.
Warburton said: “The quality games come thick and fast. They had a tough weekend against Reading, so they will be very motivated to come and get the three points at our stadium, so we know that we face another tough test.
“They have a good team, with lots of quality up top; Diedhiou and Nahki Wells, who we obviously know very well. They have quality all over the park and they are where they are in the table for a reason. We have to meet the challenge and enjoy being good ourselves.”
Tuesday’s clash in W12 with be Rangers’ fourth league fixture in 11 days and, following that, they’ll have just four days to prepare for their next one – a long trip north to Huddersfield at the weekend.
Warburton says that the demands placed on his squad at the moment means that he may have to rotate his starting XI.
He explained: “We have this game on Tuesday and we then travel to Huddersfield on the Friday. We’ll get back late from Huddersfield on the Saturday and then we go straight onto Millwall [next Tuesday].
“The games are continually coming and we have to see how the squad is. We have three or four players with niggles, so it may be that we have to make late calls on them.
“You have to rotate in times like these otherwise the players suffer; the physical data that we receive tells us that. We have to respond to that data and look after the players individually.”
One man that could return to the squad on Tuesday is Geoff Cameron. The club captain missed Friday’s game at Brentford with a minor injury.
Warburton said: “Geoff is back out on the pitch, so we’ll see how he is. He has done exceptionally well for us in terms of his availability. He looks after himself very well, so if he is available then all-well-and-good but, if not, we’ll have other players who can step in.”
