MARK Warburton is eyeing further additions to his QPR squad before the transfer window closes later this month.
Rangers – who head to Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday – have now made six summer signings, following the capture of Macauley Bonne on Friday morning.
And speaking prior to the signing of Bonne, he told www.qpr.co.uk: “I’d like to add two or three more at least.
“At the moment, we are in a relative honeymoon period, in terms of playing one game per week. That gives a false impression of the season ahead because very soon we will have the international break and when we come back we will have a game every three days.
“The implication of that – the demands on the squad – will go unheeded because that period isn’t here yet. In the middle of that it, it [game preparation] becomes a maintenance plan, it truly does; light training, play, recover, play, right the way through.
“You have the next international break and then you play nine games in 28 days, so the same again. You have to hope that the randomness of football – in terms of the injuries, suspensions and niggling knocks you will pick up – falls your way.”
The R’s head to Hillsborough on Saturday to face Wednesday, who sit bottom of the table at present. The Owls – managed by Garry Monk – started the season on -12 points after the club were found guilty of breaching EFL spending rules in July.
They have picked up four points so far this term and Warburton expects them to provide his team with a very difficult challenge.
He said: “I’m sure Garry and his team will be feeling very aggrieved at the situation and that they will be very focused on the task at hand.
“They got beaten 2-0 by Bristol City last weekend and they should’ve been 2-0 up in the first half and that sense of feeling hard done by means they’ll be ready for Saturday.
“They are a good team and they have added Callum Paterson this week. They have pace and power up top, experience in midfield, physicality at the back and pace on the wings, so they are a very good Championship team.
“As I always say, they know we are a good team as well, so we have to go there with a positive mindset, do our jobs and enjoy the challenge.”
After taking on Wednesday, Rangers will have a two-week gap until their next league fixture, which is against AFC Bournemouth on October 17th.
Warburton hopes his squad can take a victory into the international break to continue their solid start to the campaign.
He said: “There are positives to take from our start to the season. It was nice to begin with a clean sheet and then we let ourselves down at Coventry, which has been well documented.
“We were probably frustrated against a Middlesbrough team that has a lot of quality; we feel like we dropped two points. I have no doubts that Middlesbrough will trouble a lot of teams this season but now we are focused on Sheffield Wednesday.”

QPR TRANSFERS Mark Warburton has just told me: Ryan Manning is in contract talks. QPR must protect itself when players reach the end of their contract Bright Osayi nearly moved in the summer but is more settled now Very close with 2 or 3 new signings - especially attackers
So Manning might start instead of Wally ?

I would have liked to see Bonne playing up with Dykes, to me Amos and Chair are both too lightweight to be played together in the 3 behind Dykes, it's still not too bad of a lineup with a few options off the bench, here's hoping this works out, glad to see TC starting!@gatorTFC
