I'm confident we'll have a decent squad in place by early Oct. Just too easy to blame MW but it will come a time when a new face/voice will be needed. We're not there yet in my opinion.

Stainrod is correct that we need to replace those players who scored and created so many goals last season. I have been saying that for weeks.

Imo, we are in that position now where we need those new faces. Or do we wait until we lose at least 3 league matches this month before we act?

If we can address some of the weakness in defence, scoring goals though vital won't be so desperate. We need a balance of the two. So recruitment is crucial this window. I'm sure this is not lost on management.

We find ourselves in a transitional stage, we've brought on talent, and the business model dictates they be sold. Whilst we were nurturing that talent , we needed loans to bring us through, and that is the stage we must return to, but now suitably wealthier.

Its a long term iterative process. We must expect these "peaks" and troughs, but hopefully we will grow stronger with each cycle -that's the plan anyway.

Patience is a virtue.

We are not alone in the ramifications of Covid on our business model. There will be sides affected more than us. We only need a cushion of three, and in this cycle of rebirth periodically, we must accept our position in the table occasionally to falter.

The problem is MW doesn’t do defensive teams very well. That was the case at Brentford Forest and with us last season. He isn’t going to sort that aspect out unless he can buy quality defenders and a keeper like Smithies, Green or Kenny.

He does attacking passing football and needs players suited to that style.

Well given they were in League Two last season and we played a strong XI and season starts a-proper in 7 days I thought we could at least scrape draw before going out on pens.

Not forgetting that their last competitive match was 7th March.
losing to them was nothing short of disgraceful, but then again how many other Championship sides got knocked out today? Norwich Forest Cardiff Swansea and Birmingham. Did they play strong teams or select reserves?

The position of goalie is 75% in the head, 25% everything else. Have to assume Lumley is a good doobie at training, but when the whistle blows to start a real game you can almost sense the "deer in the headlights" look/play to come from him. Start Dieng so we can see what we've got, cause what we've had with Lumley and Kelly is mediocrity at best. If Dieng isn't ready, add a vet goalie to our list while loaning out Lumley and either Kelly or Dieng.

Not about Warbs for me it’s about replacing the goals of Eze , Hugil , Wells Bos and Manning if they leave of course .Thats a lot to ask , especially with a leaky defence. Recruitment is everything in this window .

Our leaky defence is all about Warbs though.... Shipping 76 goals in a season is simply not acceptable. He has had long enough to sort this problem. Conceding 3 goals against a team which was in Div 2 just over a year ago and who haven’t played a game since March is a massive worry.

MW said Lumley didn’t have a save to make but picked the ball out of the net 3 times, surely they were the saves to make!!!

I agree we are asking for Dieng but haven’t seen him play for QPR. This is exactly why he must get selected, then we will see for ourselves whether a new keeper must be signed.

yeah he’s talking B O L L O X... Lumley should’ve done a lot better with two of their goals. Plymouth had four shots at goal and scored three. He is a very, very poor GK behind a really poor back 4. Add in our castrated attacking threat and I am concerned already. We desperately need reinforcements and quick!

Having now seem the goals i think the slaughtering of Lumley is a bit harsh. Yes, we need a keeper who can organise his defence but of the defending in front of him was laughable. The guy with the assist for the first goal was in acres of space in the centre of the park and there was no challenge on the scorer of the third. The players seemed to use this as a preseason warm up. They they to defend as one next Sat and on their toes a lot more!!!

If we're going to play with four at the back we need a new LB. He can just scrape it as a LWB but I would prefer to see him on the left side of midfield. He doesnt have the physical side to his game to play defensively on the left.

He's wasted there too and would bring more to the team playing further up the pitch especially as we've lost creativity with the loss of Eze.

Play Wallace or Hamalainen at LB but they're not good enough move them on a get a specialist in.
