“The fact of the matter is we have lost a game of football and it hurts. If it doesn’t hurt then you shouldn’t be in the game. The good thing is we have a very swift chance to make amends.”
MARK Warburton admits he and his squad are hurting following Saturday’s defeat – but they welcome the early opportunity to “make amends” when they visit Cardiff City on Wednesday night.
After four consecutive wins, QPR lost 2-0 against West Brom on Saturday and the R’s chief admitted: “We have lost a game of football so it isn’t a great feeling.
“It doesn’t matter if you have won the previous four, five or six in a row, you always want to make sure you win your next one.
Warburton’s men take on Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds who are hoping to make an immediate return to the top flight following their relegation last season.
Cardiff have picked up 13 points this season with ten of them collected at home. Unbeaten in front of their own fans, they present a challenge which Warburton is fully aware of.
“We know what we face,” he said. “It is another very, very tough encounter, they are very good at what they do and are very well managed. We will have to be at it.
“They have come down from the Premier League, they have dealt with that disappointment and we know they will be a very formidable outfit.
“Every team has a different style and we know Cardiff will be very direct. They have very talented players, they will get the ball in the box and they can play.”
Yoann Barbet sits out the trip to South Wales as he serves a one-match suspension for his red card at the weekend, but Warburton confirmed Grant Hall is available to return after missing the last two fixtures through injury.
“Grant Hall is now back so that solves that dilemma,” he said. “Other than that, we have got people pushing and we want to keep it fresh.”
With the R’s taking on Blackburn this weekend, Warburton admits he does need to bear that in mind when it comes to team selection, explaining: “We will get back to Harlington in the early hours of Thursday morning and although it is all about the next game, from my point of view I do have to think about Saturday.
“It is a very quick turnaround and we have to deal with that.”
