QPR boss Steve McClaren has been looking to make his side sharper in front of goal ahead of Preston North End’s visit this weekend.
The R’s chief was disappointed with his sides final third showing in their 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United last time out.
And the Hoops manager has used the last week to work on QPR’s attacking threat ahead of hosting the North End on Saturday.
“We have worked hard this week as normal and we looked at the reasons why we lost (against Sheffield United) and we’ve been trying to put that right this week,” McClaren told www.qpr.co.uk.
“We did everything right except when it came to scoring. We were poor in the final third and normally we are quite dynamic in that respect.
“We were very organised and disciplined but in the final third disappointing. We’ve worked on that this week in terms of going forward and creating opportunities and we have to react now.
“Those who didn’t play at Sheffield United we gave a game to on Tuesday against Crystal Palace.
“I wanted to give them 90 minutes and there was a great performance and attitude that saw us win 5-0.
“That was pleasing and the squad is in good condition and ready for this game.”
QPR met Saturday’s opponents Preston on the opening day of the season back in August when Alan Browne’s second-half header was all that separated the two teams.
It was the first of a dismal set of results in the opening weeks of the 2018/19 campaign for Rangers, who have since dramatically turned around their fortunes.
In a similar fashion, Preston have also had to battle hard to turn around an early-season slump to now climb seven points clear of the relegation zone and McClaren isn't expecting an easy game despite the form guide.
“I don’t think revenge is the right word,” continued Steve. “It’s just another game, it’s a home game and we want to win it. We want to start another run after the last one came to an end. It’s about performing and getting a result.
“There’s no expectation in any game. We say each week you have to prove yourself again regardless of win, lose or draw in the previous game.
“They are too good a team to be talking about relegation. They will be talking about pushing on after getting some injuries back and a few new signings. This is going to be a difficult game for us.”
QPR have no fresh injury concerns with injured trip Tomer Hemed (groin), Angel Rangel (thigh) and Geoff Cameron (ankle) on course for a February return to action. Midfielder Massimo Luongo is still unavailable due to international duty.
