Dave is a QPR legend. Thanks for the memories Dave. RIP.'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.

An extract from an excellent obituary of the great man:
"At a smaller club (QPR) that had only won a single major trophy previously, Sexton had the freedom to create a team that more closely mirrored his own football philosophy. In his second season in charge, QPR were runners-up in the league. Sexton was a student of Rinus Michels and Dutch "total football", a fluid and highly technical system in which all 10 of a team's outfield players can switch positions quickly to maximise space on the field. He would sometimes fly to Holland at his own expense to watch games. At QPR he inherited a talented group of players, including Gerry Francis, Stan Bowles and Frank McLintock, and also signed Don Masson. He instilled in the side a discipline and aesthetic that was ahead of its time, emphasising the importance of diet and fitness, and video analysis using footage that he had painstakingly edited himself."

New players at QPR, the whole team aswell, should be shown a fair few of the matches this team played.
TOTAL FOTBALL is what this club were internationally known for. Those of you which want to see more of it; watch U-tube clips of the Dutch team in the world Championship in 1974.

REDKNAPP LEADS SEXTON TRIBUTES
Harry praises ‘gentleman of the game’
He was a real football man. A fantastic coach, who did a brilliant job here at QPR.""
Harry Redknapp
HARRY Redknapp has led the tributes to former R’s manager Dave Sexton who sadly passed away on Sunday.
Sexton, of course, masterminded the R’s to a second place finish in the old First Division in 1975/76, as well as managing the likes of Leyton Orient and Manchester United.
