I would like to record the passing away of my brother, Chris Ashley, a huge QPR fan at the tender age of 45 years young on the 6 June 2012. Chris comes from a long line of QPR fans on my Dads side of the family. Dad was bought up in Cathnor Rd in The Bush and first started going with his Dad (my Grandad) back in the late 40’s after The War. Grandad goes back well before that and use to tell me about players in the 20’s. My Dad started taking me in 1970 and Chris 4 ½ years younger than me soon followed suit and joined us in the mid 70’s. We were so lucky growing up with the fantastic team of Stan, Gerry, my favourite Dave Thomas and Dads favourite Don Givens, etc that so nearly won The Title in 76 and entertained with both League Cup and UEFA Cup runs in 77. By the time El Tel had taken over and we reached The Cup Final in 82 & 86 Broth & I were old enough to go with mates and we joined the Wembley walk from Loftus Rd on both brilliant occasions. In recent years Broth moved away to Frome Sommerset and was unable to attend many matches, but would always take pride in wearing his Rss top and spreading the gospel of all Rangers around the town. His mates tell me he always loved to sit on his favourite bench by the river Saturday afternoon and listen to the radio picking up every snippet on how The Rangers were doing. It was with much sadness that shortly after Broth passed away I heard his favourite player Alan Mcdonald had also passed on. I can only imagine the two of them will be sitting in the best seats looking down on the hallowed turf cheering on the lads this season!!
