Do we? Where'd you see that - I've not seen that said anywhere credible, only seen his move here described as a loan?

Between the club's policy of being cagey about player deals/contracts and Saito's status at Lommel I'd say his future is murky and up in the air.
Lommel bought him from Japan, played him one season, loaned him to Rotterdam and then loaned him to us. It appears his Lommel contract expires in June. That suggests he's a free agent at end of season and can join any club in the world - I don't see how any "option to buy" could work as Koki would say to Lommel you can't sell me, I'm not your player anymore.

None of this means he can't be our player next season but I would be very wary of assuming it's a done deal or foregone conclusion.

Think Abs is right on how we could lose most of our defence. I see Cook staying, Morrison will be there. Fox not sure, Dunne is the big question. Paal i think we may move to upgrade or maybe already have, Ashby SEEYA, Edwards little to no chance.

Chair, 2 goals great to see, first goal a worldy. Did he really play that well other than the 2 goals, we dominated that game and easier to look good in a team playing so well? Yes deserved the plaudits for a brace and very pleased he did it. However he has been very poor this year, apart from in 2 games in the 10 role, so hopefully he can find some consistently higher levels, he did however deserve a question mark put over his selection, as did Marti when we were bottom of the league and playing woefully. Fortunately faith was kept in Marti and hopefully Chair rewards the faith put in him to find his form, he has earnt that faith over the years for sure.

Can't argue with the sentiment but c'mon, look at the reality of things....

Virtually the whole defence from this week is out of contract in June and can go to whatever team offers them the best package.

Saito and Edwards are loan players and their future is entirely in the hands of their parent club. I dunno much about Saito's situation but Saints bought Edwards from League One for £3.5 million and he's under contract until 2028. They WILL be relegated to Championship and will almost certainly sell Harwood- Bellis and/or Bendarek and play Ronnie. I can't see how they'd loan him out or sell him, it doesn't make sense. IF they did sell him I guess they'd want at least £5million. I also suspect there'd be 20 clubs ahead of us in the queue for his signature that would offer him a significantly better remuneration package than we could.

Basically, this time next year our starting XI will be unrecognisable from last night's.

Your dead right there, I’m hoping that now we are back competing we will be able to tempt some to stay and quality players to join. But as you rightly state money does seem to be the prime motivator these days
