Using Saturday as the low point tonight was better in parts, again gifting the away team their early goal we were a shambles for 20 odd minutes. Slowly but steadily we pulled ourself back together, however never really looked like scoring, eventually Morgan got the equaliser and we were on the front foot. However taking Smyth of seemed to stop the attacking options.

Positives tonight were Saito who caused problems and Varane had a decent game, negatives were Dembele and Chair who were way off the pace, as for Celar I do think we have been sold a dud, cannot see what he offers.
1 point from 6 against 2 crappy teams is poor, it’s going to be a long season.
Atmosphere tonight with a sparse crowd much.better than Saturdays full house.
Really pleased for young Morgan, a lot to learn but fantastic attitude.

A good write up , we had more of a energy about us , we had to work hard against a decent team that knocked the ball around well , Sam field immense tonight , broke up play , put his foot in and didn't stop running .
Cook , Clarke salter both had good games as said chair , dembele both flat .
Celar runs around a bit but lightweight and makes sure he doesn't get injured , where was Frey tonight . Feel if he was playing we may have won .
Much improved from Saturday .

Cellar has 12 touches of the ball Sky said we looked like we played without a forward. How can we have worse forward options and less to choose from when it’s Ben a problem for many seasons .

I'm not surprised Celar only had 12 touched and it looked like we played without a CF. Our wide players are obsessed with taking highly speculative wasteful long range shots rather than supplying a CF with quality balls

I said in match day thread we could of had Drogba up front and he wouldn't get the ball im not saying Celar is not a fault but our final ball is terrible Smyth was admittedly better last night but Chair woeful thought Dembele was well of it as well

Shout out to Saito, Field, Cook Varane and Morgan who looks like he's got a bit about him

Like to see Marti go 433 with Varane Field and Morgan in middle of pitch along with Colback when fit as I thought we got opened up far to easy with back 3

I didn't manage to see the game but my mate who is a spurs fan thought we were a bit pants. He said that the final 3rd was really poor and the play kept breaking down. He is used to premier league but thought it was a huge drop in quality. Can't really blame Marti it's just the players lack real quality. He also said balls into the box were very hopeful and had no real purpose. Shame

Smyth doesn't have the quality to put a decent ball into the box for a CF. Frey was also annoyed with him on Sat in the last 10-15mins when he found space but the ball never came. Crosses are just that, without any real look up and dropping the ball where its needed.

Both Siato & Chair want to cut in to get their shots away, which are normally outside the box without pace and accuracy.

Im not convinced playing with two CFs would help the team if one cant get decent balls delivered.

At least we had the desire, but with a defence prone to individual errors and a weak attack it's going to be a long season. But Marti knew the size of the budget and the quality he was going to work with. Im nit convinced changing him would result in a uptick in form. It's the squad that's the problem.

But I think we'll avoid relegation.......just.

Celar doesn't jump , if he does it's limp.
He gets dominated from the off and wins very little..

Exactly this, that first one Smyth put in i was watching Celar and he was just jogging into the box . A good striker would bust a gut to get there before the defender. The second one he should have put his foot out at least to try and reach it. The bloke is either crap or not bothered , he has a better touch than Dykes but his attitude is poor. Yes a lot of the time our wide players cut in and don't always cross but a decent forward would make runs in behind but ours don't . I honestly don't remember Celar having a shot on target all season

It was really poor. But I suppose in the context of past two months of horror shows it was an improvement. Although I watched it, after our comedic defending for their goal and our shockingly bad opening quarter I kind of zoned out and it washed over me a bit.

I'm still baffled by our lack of energy and attacking intent. There's just no desire in the team to bomb forward, even when the opposition give us the ball and are out of position. Cov must've burst forward with pace and numbers on us at least 4 or 5 times. When we had similar opportunities there was no conviction or willingness to get supporting runners up to pull the defenders about.

Was a relief to see Sammy Field back to his normal self after a strangely muted opening to his season, the new lad Morgan looks like he might have a bit about him too and Varane didnt look totally lost so hopefully he's getting more used to EFL now.

Bottom line is we're still badly out of sorts and winless in last 5. I've got ticket for Burnley, I was thinking about spewing it after Pompey game but last night has given me a flicker of hope again so I'll drag me butt over to East Lancs I think.

Our players attack on their own. Nobody makes runs pulling defenders out of position.

Was pleasing to see us knocking it around a bit more, we definitely dominated possession for most of the game and were the team trying to play.
Shame we had another defensive calamity resulting in another goal that could have been avoided - think it was Paal who's clearance was scuffed.
Dembele was a bit missing but when the team is ticking better he will make a big contribution I'm sure.

Some tougher fixtures now, they'll galvanise us I think/ hope.

Chair is a funny one , fine when he's driving at the defence but off often checks back and passes backwards.
A lot of teams double up on him and stifle him .
Would like to see him more centrally and behind the striker

With this run of tougher fixtures coming up, I feel it will make or break us.
I feel against better opposition, we may see a turnaround.
