It's a good point David, I mean growing up in the 90's England had strikers like Robbie Fowler, teddy sherringham, Les Ferdinand, Ian Wright, Andy cole, Alan shearer, Stan collymore, Michael Owen to pick from. What do we have now harry kane, solanke, Toney and Watson. The main reason we don't have a pool of decent strikers is because of the obsession of premier league teams playing 1 up front. Arsenal play 2 upfront but very few teams are allowed to play it these days which is a sad state of affairs and this mentality drops down into the championship, packing out the midfield and as Dave says playing out from the back.

Liverpool's keeper used to kick the ball into their half under Klopp. If it's good enough for them then we can stop this tippy tappy nonsense at the back. Way too much snobbery in football these days.

Main improvement for me under Marti is we are generally grinding out points even when playing badly. Unfortunately mainly draws!

The frustration for me is we are still generally poor at home and have been for ages. On paper we have a sold base and some decent attacking/creative options but create nowhere near enough. I get we need to gel but most teams are in the same position. We are not unique although I do accept we have recruited heavily from abroad so may take a bit longer.

Two up top at home should be tried. Obvious problem with that is we only have two first choice strikers ...

It’s ok playing out from the back if you have can with the ability to cut open a defence with 1 ball we don’t and don’t have a cm capable of it either

I’d rather press further up the field as soon as we play into midfield we lose it so often

What's happening at home isn't good enough and it's plain too see.
Think we could of gone 2 up front against one of the weaker teams like Millwall.
Tippy happy 5 a side at the back is lazy play and boring to watch as we are slow at it , predictable and will eventually get caught out .

I posted separately about the size (narrowness) of our pitch. Slightly disappointingly I only got 3 responses. I think it's a real factor in our dreadful home form and it isn't going away. We are so much better away on a regular basis. This has gone on so long now that it has to be considered a factor.

Professional players should be able to operate in slightly tighter spaces.

We very rarely sell out, so if marty thinks its a problem then we would take out the first five rows of ER/SAR and widen the pitch.

Might be an idea to do that. As you say players should be able to deal with such an issue but for defenders it makes it easier still. This is our experience.

Quite a few of the lower school end rows are covered and not used to avoid the away fans above throwing things down onto that area.

We would not meet required 10% or 2 k allocation, whatever is smaller for away fans.
lower tier only holds 1200 instead of the near 1800 required.
