Threw away 2 points today, got off to a flyer with an early goal and Dembele tearing them apart, then inexplicably dropped back and allowed Plymouth back into it, they scored a screamer after sloppy work by Field, a minute later their down to 10. Never goes well for us playing 10 and we limped to halftime.

Second half one sided with countless chances missed, or the keeper pulling of good saves.

This is a new team and will take time to gel, Dembele looks class, Saito will need time, new guy looked solid, Dunne excellent today, Dembele MOTM, Smyth so frustrating. Still think midfield a bit light.

Special mention to Ward the ref who was the pits, not fit to referee.

11 corners, 30 shots only scored once says it all. That said last season we often ended the game with far worse stats so at least we’re trying. Some real potential there - Smyth still adds little though imo and Celar had a bit of a shocker in front of goal. Onwards to Luton (twice)!

Yes, we threw away two points but I am not so downbeat. We created a bucket full of chances, and on another day we would have scored five in the second half alone. We had numerous very narrow misses and it is just coincidence whether these goes inside or outside the post. Football is about thin margins.

On other occasions, when we have played against 10 men (such as against Plymouth last year) we have struggled to break down the defensive wall of the opposition. Now we got around from both sides again and again, we put dangerous crossed into the box, we cut through in the middle and our corners start to be threatening almost every time. We are clearly making progress.

I think Madsen made a good debut. He is a calm and effective presence in the middle. He can clearly pick a pass and I think he will be a vital player.
Dembele is utter class and just what we need if Chair is on his way to Leeds. Saito had a bad day at the office but I think he will become good. We all know Smyth is not the answer but nobody can fault his effort and energy.

Celar wasn't to be seen for a long time, but during the last 15 minutes he got close three times. Adding up the three shots he made, he was just half a meter away from a hat trick. The fact that he got into these positions and could finish in tight situations is a plus for me. I think he will gradually improve as he gets used to the Championship.

I am convinced there are more players incoming, and more players leaving before or on 30 August, so this is not yet the complete team of 24/25.

Two points went a begging, not sure why Marti didnt try to nullify Whittaker, he wa given the freedom of the wing by Paal, playing both Frey and Celar didnt work for me Still the players aree getting used to each which bodes well for the future games.
