Probably the greatest player to pull on the shirt. Would get absolutely slaughtered on here if he played now!

          well

well his bravery was legendary he used to keep hold of the ball knowing he would get chopped down
although mostly left footed he could score with his right foot also

never brilliant in the air he could score the occaisional header

transfer value i supposed about 45 million pound in todays money,i thought rodney edged it as the greatest ever player but there wasnt much in it they were both trully brilliant

adel has the natural abillity to be better than both of them but he needs to play in a more forward role adel needs to get more goals, which he could if he didnt waste so much time in midfield

SO TO RECAP BOWLES ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, COURAGES,SKILLFULL AND SENSATIONAL
RODNEY MARSH HAD ALL OF BOWLES SKILL BUT HE ALSO USED TO BE AN INCREDIBLE ENTERTAINER,SO .......................I DONT KNOW THIS OF COURSE JUST MY OPINION

Any one remember fa cup game circa 1975/76 i think, i'm sure Stan curled in a last minute wonder left footed free kick just outside the box against Coventry to give us a 3-2 win, crowd went absolutely potty, those were the days, then we lost to Leicester next round 0-2 an unknown Walters got a brace not heard of again, typical R'S

SB was in conversation with a few of my friends and he said ,how often did Marsh do it away from home also saying that he never hid
Football played the Charlie Ferris way

Sad thing, about 5 years ago there was an evening with Stan at the Bar (formally Laurel and Hardy's) by the Target, 3 people turned up, me my mate and his daughter, asked him about that goal, he did remember it, but seemed pretty ****ed off no one turned up so he left after about half an hour.

Stan was the best we have had in my lifetime (too young to have seen Rod). Proper footballer and proper bloke and seemed like he went all out to win every game (or needed the win bonus to pay off his bookie more like)

Was he any good ? Well I remember one game he was sprinting down the wing when faced with 2 defenders and another in between but about 15 meters further away. In a flash Stan kicked the ball downwards creating a spin so the ball went through the first 2 defenders and stop dead so it did not reach the defender further away,Stan was able to glide thro them and retrieve the ball to carry on. That happened right in front of me...totally mind blowing skill.

Remember reading him saying that he was good ,....obviously Stan was never short of self confidence on the pitch as we know, but he said he was that loved that even if he misplaced a pass the recipient got the blame from the crowd for not being in the right place!!!
