  • Those Disgusting QPR Ticket Prices

Tony Fernandes is, according to our QPR “Who are You?” candidate whose interview will appear today or tomorrow, a good guy.

Then the Rangers chairman and majority stakeholder needs to sort out the less good guys around him if they, and not him, are responsible for the pricing policy that led to Sunderland fans being asked to stump up £45 for what the London and Southern England branch of the SAFC Supporters’ Association called “the worst away accommodation in the Premier League”...

While I agree that football ticket prices are getting riduculous, I don't agree that relatively poor facilities should mean cheaper tickets. You are paying for the product on the pitch. Would a nice comfy seat and a great view be worth 45 quid at Carshalton Athletic? I think not!

ive read your post three times now and I still have no idea what your point is ,is it TF should sort out the exorbitant price of a seat Loftus RD , or is it , we `re watching premier league football ,so we should put up ( and shut up ) with c rap facilities ?
Not digging you out at all , but I don't get your point .
Also a ticket for the robins wont ever be worth £45 ( up the road at Sutton , well that's a different matter ! )

You must be completely mad to pay £45 to watch the team Sunderland put out on Saturday. But that is their problem.

No worries, I don't take that as a dig

The point of this post was really just to present the author's viewpoint on our ticket prices. I think it is interesting to see how others see us.

My take on the article is:
        1. I agree that ticket prices are too high in general - not just at QPR.
        2. I'm not really buying the criticism that they are too high at QPR because of the relatively poor facilities because you are paying for the product on the pitch, not the seat you put your bum into, and this is the Premier League!

Fans can't have it both ways. Not many fans thought it was "disgusting" that we paid all that money to buy Samba and Remy. The question is do we want a Rolex (expensive football) or a Casio (League One, cheaper).

The fact we went for Rolex is because we squandered our spending and were forced to go Bling to survive.

If the transfer policy was handled correctly, we could have built up a healthy squad without panic buying. If Rigg and Beard had done their jobs properly and also sparky was kept in check we could have been watching Breitling football, quality without breaking the bank.

Fair point, though in fairness successive managers have been playing catch up (Rigg and Hughes panic bought because the previous regime had so under-spent we had very little to build on - the heart of the Warnock team simply wasn't good enough). Also even a sensible transfer spending spree would have cost tens of millions, and ticket prices don't even touch the sides to cover such outlay with an 18,000 stadium.

i think something has to be done about ticket prices, at my age i can barely afford it and i cant imagine how the students and early 20s crowd can afford the pleasure. i was lucky in a way that we were in the 2nd and 3rd tier when i was that age and even though i felt it was expensive it was affordable to a degree, i seem to remember prices actually falling by about a 5er one season in the championship. i can see the argument about rolex football etc, however, does this mean that in the future football will only be a sport for the rolex crowd. you would also be surprised at some of the prices that clubs in the casio leagues charge, its no where near as cheap as you expect it to be! i remember a league 2 club nearly charging as much as i do for a seat vs teams like norwich to stand in their ground. somehow we have allowed prices (under some american influence i believe) for entertainment to rise to disporportionate levels, this goes across the board for me whether its the cinema, concerts or football etc.. actors, footballers and mime artists like madonna earn far too much for the service they provide. i buy my girlfriend concert tickets from time to time and my eyes water when i see how much its going to cost me to get a seat in the back row at the o2.

arsenal charged man city far more
                  chelsea charged us more....
football has to get its house in order....when budgets are set by the lge/fa it will take a while to settle down but still big teams will have loop holes.
it's not a level playing field. so DSQPR...a question, have you contacted the football supporters federation? do you support the "£20s plenty campaign"?
there are things going on and only with huge support will we get the bosses to look at prices.

we're in a triple dip recession and still prices only go up, whether it's fags, booze or groceries .

I don't agree that facilities should not be related to prices. Watch football in a massive comfy armchair with plenty of access, few queues and good bars/food should be a factor in price as well as the team.

Some areas of LR are far worse than others for example.....never been in the USE, but it's the only part of the ground I haven't been in and if it is like the LSE then having a pee and getting a beer are a nightmare unless you leave well before half time.

I was in the upper school end with a geordie pal when we played newcastle last season, i dont think they were serving drink and it was pretty claustrophobic up there and the view wasnt great either. £45 is too much for 90mins of football in those conditions, 25-30 would be tolerable.

No one forces fans to pay £45. I paid that amount to watch the Everton from the Upper Loft and wont be doing that again on a frequent basis.

Clubs need to bring the prices down (this includes QPR if they stay up) and should use some of the increased TV money to help do this.

At this rate, it is only a matter of time before fans stop going to watch live matches on a frequent basis.

Don't forget they lost.............i'm amazed if they're complaining about facilities that they don't also want their money back because they lost. Football isn't like going to the theatre as many seem to liken it to.
