Our very own Park Ji Sung sits comfortably at number 40. After seeing that, he most definitely did NOT come here just for the money, the man is loaded.
Interesting list, how in the ****** hell are Joe Cole and Damian Duff on that list?!
That amount (18M GBP) appears to be less than what Park made from salaries alone during his EPL career. In actuality, Park has earned more from various other sources like sponsorship deals, TV ads, investment income, etc. Korean news media estimated Park's overall wealth to be over 100M USD back in 2008, with much of it invested in real estate (like his 7-storey commercial building in Yongin-city, Korea).
Assuming that he at least managed to preserve his wealth, Park would be somewhere in the top 10 of that list, unless other players' data are also inaccurate.
Goal compiled the list using identifiable wealth, including annual accounts submitted to Companies House, properties, salary details, bonuses and other business interests.
Although salary information usually isn't made public, Park's salary was a popular topic in Korea and it was reported to be about 3M GBP per year on average while he was with Manchester United, if I remember correctly. It appears that his EPL salary is the only data that made it into the chart in Park's case, although he had significant other income.
