His own fault he's gone, it's just the manner in which it was done which was distasteful IMO.

The gloating is expected but fairly crass too.
Agreed. He clearly deserved to go, but I was wrong to reply here to a inaccurate defence of Marshy.

I do not remember what he did in the past but the last few weeks he was a good poster IMO and therefore he should be judged by that. He probably got infarcations points before but served them so that is in the past.

The last few threads he started were good. Yet people attacked him, insulting him, going offtopic, ridiculed him again and again. These posters did not seem to get infarction points even though they broke the rules. And Marshy was banned. Is that fair? No.

I hope whoever voted for him to get banned did not do so because they disagreed with him or because of all of his threads that got hijacked. That would be a shame and IMO unjust.

Just because Marshy thinks that maybe Mackie should be tested as a CM does not mean it is meant to be inflammatory. If people take it the wrong way it is under no circumstances Marshys fault. To think otherwise is IMO wrong.
You're not his mum are you????

As for people insulting him as you suggest, i think you'll find in most cases people simply responded to his comments like they do to anyone else, and if they disagreed, simply said so for whatever reason. The one you mentioned above being point in case. His initial suggesiton may not be inflammatory, but when people dare to have a different opinion, he started insulting others or suggesing they knew nothing.....

People say everyone should be welcome on a forum becasue it's all about opinions, so he should't have been banned, however, that was what he couldn't accept. We had no choice but to have his opinions thrust upon us with countless threads every day, mostly deliberatley aimed to wind people up, and he couldn't accept others not agreeing with him..... Apparently anyone who didn't was a bully. Pathetic and good riddence.

It seems alot of people tend to read between the lines, & to be fair, when there are so many posts to read, then reading between the lines is the only way to keep up.

We now have over 3000 registered members, but as mods/admins, we gave up more time to 1 member than we did to the others; is this fair?

We also are aware that there are alot of registered members, who are put off posting because of some of the above mentioned issues.

As a regular poster, Marshy didn't bother me, & as some have said, he did post the odd gem from time to time, but as a mod, it started to become tiring; the pm's the emails etc; were just starting to take up far too much time.
If we were to sit back & ignore, as some have suggested; then we would of lost far more members in the long run.
In answer to a post above about circumventing our sign up procedure; nothing is impossible & Marshy has advised us that he does work in software development & could circumvent our security if he wished, but will chose not to.
Also, amongst the mod/admin team, we do have a few I.T. savy people who know how to circumvent the circumventors

Part of me will miss some of Marshy's posts & unlike good ole Ted, I don't believe for 1 second that Marshy is not a QPR fan -But our job here, is to serve the majority & not bow down to the odd mis-fit.

Think the mods appear to have done a good job dealing with this situation - it did appear to be more than your day to day policing of this site, and probably a good deal of diplomacy needed to be implemented and make a correct decision for all concerned. They should not have been subject to a constant stream of PM's and emails from this guy, so well done to all mods. Personally, yes he did flood the place with constant threads, but I personally ignored them if I didnt want to read them....maybe others should have done the same and not given him the reaction he craved. The constant replies to him only fuelled his constant thread starting....IMO!!

Quite right mate. It can be difficult at first because it isn't always easy to work out if the person is just a little odd or a blatant trouble maker. But in his case, it became very clear, very quickly. Better to ignore than get worked up. Far more important things in life. Like correcting people's spelling.

                                1. Marshy wrote interesting, but somewhat controversial OP's
                                2. Some posters didn't like them, and picked up irrelevant details to tease him
                                3. Marshy couldn't handle negative feedback
                                4. Outcome was many long and negative threads arguing about nonessentials
                                5. Moderators created a public basis for hostile opinions towards him
                                6. Marshy couldn't bear the pressure
                                7. He was banned.
