I don't think they have a negative impact and seeing as they are not stopping real fans getting in they certainly add more than an empty seat.Originally posted by willis1980 View PostNail and head spring to mind
Nobody was slagging off the tourists, however, if you think they contribute to the atmosphere the same way a genuine qpr fan does youre wrong.
If a single person on this board tells me that could not get a ticket I will be amazed. I didn't get mine as soon as they were on sale and there was plenty of choice left, so much so we managed to pick a couple of our fav seats out.
My point is that it is pretty easy for real fans to get tickets - so they are not being denied by either touts or tourist. In fact if the so called tourists are in the upper loft because a so called "real fan" is selling his ticket for a few extra quid, then he isn't that mush of a real fan that he will be that missed. Maybe these "tourist" have become members, which should be welcomed as they are becoming "real fans".

obviously youre only focusing on what you want to yet again silvercue, the touts do have a negative impact as I mentioned before there were a few empty seats in my block on saturday and i havent seen that in ages. in fact theres often so many people in the block that they get stewards to check everyones tickets before the game and at half time these days, the only plausible explanantion is that either these tickets were bought by touts and not sold (explaining the arrival of people who usually would sit in the qblock) or the info provided on the clubs website was wrong and the tickets in that block werent sold out. there was far too many empty seats to support any argument suggesting that people were away that weekend etc.Originally posted by silvercue View PostI don't think they have a negative impact and seeing as they are not stopping real fans getting in they certainly add more than an empty seat.

its quite simple really touts bulk buy the cheap tickets giving them a higher profit margin, on this occasion didnt manage to fleece the average punter, leaving rows of empty seats.

The biggest problem is the party selling the ticket to the tout. If a fan, they should be thoroughly ashamed. But more than likely, something that the club has lost control of. Probably due to there not being the demand many would like to make out. Not from long standing R's fans anyway.Originally posted by willis1980 View Postobviously youre only focusing on what you want to yet again silvercue, the touts do have a negative impact as I mentioned before there were a few empty seats in my block on saturday and i havent seen that in ages. in fact theres often so many people in the block that they get stewards to check everyones tickets before the game and at half time these days, the only plausible explanantion is that either these tickets were bought by touts and not sold (explaining the arrival of people who usually would sit in the qblock) or the info provided on the clubs website was wrong and the tickets in that block werent sold out. there was far too many empty seats to support any argument suggesting that people were away that weekend etc.

The point about your original post that concerned me most was the bit about the 'family of four' spending the entire game staring at the back of the people in front. How welcoming that must be. Surely we cannot expect new fans to be enticed if they are seen as an inconvenience to those whose behaviour is not very considerate, to say the least.
If the upper loft is members only and not sold out to members attending the game, then perhaps it should not be. Club's fault. Personally, I would never permanently be stood up and blocking the view of a paying customer. That is just ignorant.

the family of four didnt have any children in it they were all grown ups, im not entirely convinced they were all to be fair. there was no reaction out of them at any point even when we scored, it was very odd. nobody was rude to them, they were treated just like anybody else is. they mustve got their tickets off a tout as they didnt appear to care enough to have bought membership inorder to buy a ticket for the match, and id be very surprised if we ever saw them again. ironically the people stood in front of family were a group in half and half scarves. most people that attend matches regularily are aware that the q block stands and so do the vast majority of the r block, those of us that want to sit have a vat array of seats to choose from. the korean lad in front of me seemed to have the time of his life and did his best to sing along with all the songs that were on the go.Originally posted by brightonr View PostThe biggest problem is the party selling the ticket to the tout. Sorry Brighton but Qblock is standing and has been for many a year. Any proper fan buying a ticket up there will know what to expect.Originally posted by brightonr View PostPersonally, I would never permanently be stood up and blocking the view of a paying customer. That is just ignorant.
No way should that change just to please a couple of new 'customers'

I think that safe standing areas are well overdue and that the all seater stadiums most definitely detract from the atmosphere. Fully understand that people want to be stood up and that measures should be put in place for that to be possible. Doubt if I would ever have had a seat if standing was available.
Just couldn't imagine standing up in front of someone who has paid for their seat for the whole game. What next, pint in one hand and a fag in the other? OK in Q block but not in R? Odd set of guidelines to say the least.

Totally agree.....totally ignorant and I'm alright Jack attitude...if there are seats, where ever in the ground they are, they are there for reason...to be sat on......so sit on them.Originally posted by brightonr View PostPersonally, I would never permanently be stood up and blocking the view of a paying customer.
