I hope sat's win doesn't cloud Harry's judgement.

Well, that too, but also because Park's natural position at Manchester United was right wing (C. Ronaldo's position was left wing), and he has had a lot of success from that position throughout his career. Park was later played as a CM (often with a free role or additional instructed role) and eventually had success there as well, but it is not his preferred position. Park did also play both positions for the Korean national team, but when he played CM he had a free role.

Park can play a large variety of roles throughout midfield, but for him to be contributing to the offense he needs to be on the wing (right or left) or at least instructed by the manager to attack despite being positioned elsewhere. If he is not positioned or instructed to attack, he will instead focus on whatever other task was assigned to him by the manager. It's really up to what HR wants out of him this game, as always Park will always try to complete the task assigned to him.

No. Park is not creative. At Man Utd, it did not matter, he had a lot of creative players around him. He doesn't here.

I still think he has a good engine and experience, and I don't trust Bosingwa defensively, so I think we should Park at RB. But right side on the midfield is a no-no, as he is denying Townsend a place.

Townsend is a good, creative player and his performance at QPR has been pretty good so far. Furthermore, Townsend is young and likely will become even better with time.

That being said, it is undeniable fact that if and when Ji Sung Park is in good form, he is more likely to produce assists or goals than Townsend in good form. This season has so far been Park's worst of his career and for the most part was played out of his natural position, but he has still contributed 3 assists in 15 games (2 in PL, 1 in CC). Townsend has 0 assists and 0 goals in 8 games (5 with Spurs, 3 with QPR) this season. Park's record is obviously better.

Even if you look into previous seasons, Park has a better record. Last season Park had 4 goals and 4 assists for Man. Utd. despite starting less games than previous seasons, and that was considered a bad season for him, whereas Townsend had 2 goals and 7 assists (4 from LC, 4 from Europa with Tottenham). If you look in the season before that, which was Park's best season, Park had 10 goals and 5 assists for Man. Utd., whereas Townsend had 4 goals and 6 assists (1 in PL, 3 in CC, 4 in LC).

The truth is that Townsend never had a better season than Park, so far in his career. This may change in the future as Townsend has a long career ahead of him, but RESULTS mean everything for us at this point in time, and Park appears to be recovering his form. If Park has indeed regained his form, Townsend cannot be chosen above him for the upcoming game.

Of course, the choice may not even be necessary since HR is just as likely to start Hoilett or Townsend on left wing, Remy on right wing (if fit), and Park on CM. If given instructions to attack freely, Park may venture to the wings as he did last game.

As for Park playing RB, he may be possibly be able to do it as he is a good defender and has played many positions, but he has almost zero experience playing in that particular position, which would make it a tremendous risk / liability to play him there on Saturday. A risk that is, in my opinion, not necessary and not one we can afford to take.
