Richard johnson. Only played 11 games for us but played vital role in taking us up to championship. Palmer just wasn't up to the centre mid role and johnson by keeping it simple in the middle enabled likes of rowlands to do their stuff.

I agree Wilson was just sheer class one of the best players I've seen down the bush probably unlucky never to be capped by England had Pearce & Sansom in his way although i think he was probably a better footballer than both?

Agree with those. Holloway in particular.

                i think

i think holloway barker and impey worked brilliantly as a midfield trio

although gerry francis and don masson and john hollins had amazing tallent

when we had bardsley darren peacock macdonald wilson wilkins holloway barker impey those eight players really played brilliantly as a team, and we had arguabley the best attacking full backs in the country, both bardsley and wilson used to play as wingers for some games it was fabulous stuff

but it also shows how if you attack every team that you go up against you can get into the top five in england, the best form of defence is to attack

Yes Maddix for sure. Agreed, Wilson just oozed class as did Bardsley. I agree with Ted about Bannister, certainly one of the most underrated players of his generation. Simon Barker was another unsung hero and for his limited ability, Gavin Mahon was also a far better player than credited.
Thinking back to the good old days, Don Givens never got the credit that some of those around him did. And Frank McClintock was a legend of an old man in 75/6. The other one that James mentioned was Richard Johnson who made a massive impact in such a short period of time.
