This is the crux of the problem!

If we play Adel then every attacking move, corner, free kick etc all seems to go through him. That was fine in the Championship because in terms of ability he was head and shoulders above anyone in that league. It's also not so much of an issue in this league if he's having a good day, on his day he is a proven match winner. The problem is if he is having a bad day, having Taarabt in the side can completely stifle our attacking play and we are restricted to speculative shots from 30 yards.

Have a look at Junior Hoilett's performance yesterday, for me he was the best player on the pitch. I don't chuck about compliments like that for the sake of it either, I have been hugely critical of Hoilett for most of the season. My point is, had Taarabt been in the side Hoilett would not have been afforded the same amount of quick possession in good areas because 9 times out of 10 a move would go through Taarabt and he would try to skin a player 10 times before either losing it, shipping it on or shooting from range.

Don't get me wrong, I think Adel is immensely talented and working hard to improve the negative side of his game. I was also lucky enough to watch him train and meet him in Dubai last week and his attitude seems 100 times better than it was a few years back. All that said, I think with Hoilett returning to fitness & form, Andros Townsend in the squad and SWP starting to look a bit more like the player he used to be, I would use Taarabt as an impact sub for the remainder of this season if I was in Harry's seat!

Taraabt is a God in his own head and needs a spell out of the team. He over complicates simple moves, slows attacks down, shoots when should pass, does imaginary challenges for high balls....one over-rated but potentially good player.

Park's game is not one of tricks and skill, it's closing the space down and players down...it's very simple really like some posters on here.
Yes, no use closing space and players down if you can't do anything with the ball and give it back away! What was that you were saying about a joke.

Yep. Adel's a luxury we can't afford at present. He's too dominant a player in our team and he plays way, way too deep. Wish Granero could up his game though. He was poor yesterday.

The team should be selected on form and tactics. I would be surprised if there are not a couple of changes for the next match and let's hope Harry gets it right as some of his recent team selections have been questionable.

Yep, think he got a few right yesterday though.

It is clear that Adel currently isnt on form and therefore we can't use him -

Yesterdays tactics and selection was spot on.

I thought they both had decent games yesterday and I'm no great fan of either. Can't we just be happy with that?

I never said we should not be happy. We should. We got some luck yesterday, and we deserve it.

But I don't care about just one game. I care about where we will finish come May. And if we carry on with Park/Bothroyd and don't bring in Townsend/Tarbs, I know we will finish in the bottom three.

By all means, celebrate the win, but don't get carried away.

Not getting carried away, I know we still have our limitations and a massive task ahead.

Better situation we are in than before kick off yesterday though.

My point was more about you not posting for days/weeks and you suddenly pop up with your 'wisdom' when something has just gone right.

Townsend and Tarbs is an exciting attacking combination but if you play both out wide (think most agree for the next run of games against relatively weak teams we need to play two up front) you are putting a huge amount of pressure on the central midfield two. and whatever combination you hit open we are extremely weak there.

I don't buy your logic on wrapping the season's results on the combination of Park/Bothroyd vs Townsend/Tarbs. It's severely myopic in that it ingores the other aspects of the team's game that has created the placement we are in, like our woeful defending for the first half of the year. The club has won 3 games the whole season - focusing on these players ain't going to be the turning point for the club. In my humble opinion it's your hate on for Park and love for Tarb that's showing through rather than looking at the whole team set up. Tarb has been **** for a number of games now (again in imo) with his selfish decisions. Park and Bothroyd should have the opportunity to redeem their play and if they do, they should be rewarded with more play time to build on it and not brushed aside.

I think if we had played Adel yesterday we would of lost coz they would of closely marked him knowing full well every attacking move would of gone through him and by playing Jay & Park they didn't know what to do. I'm not a great fan of Park but boy did he put a shift in yesterday, best game for us I think.
