'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.
Whilst I am not suggesting that we'd be better off without Tony Fernandes at the club or that he does not have QPR's best interests at heart, I have a lot of sympathy for the views expressed by Kirill. It does appear that Tony has become so popular amongst the fan base that he seems to be immune from criticism, despite his record as Chairman being far from impressive. I could probably write an essay on the errors that have been made, but examples include allowing Mark Hughes to 'interview the club' rather than the other way round prior to his appointment, sanctioning big-money signings despite the players clearly being injury prone or 'past it', the dreadful handling of the Lower Loft Family Stand situation and his refusal to sack Hughes even when it was clear that he had lost the support of the dressing room (in fact Fernandes didn't want to sack Hughes right at the end; he ended up being outvoted by the other shareholders). Fernandes is undoubtedly a very pleasant guy who has enjoyed remarkable commercial success outside of football, but just because he is superb at public relations does not mean that he should not be held accountable for his mistakes which have contributed to this catastrophe of a campaign.

He allowed Hughes to interview the club? Not heard that one before. got a source?
As for sanctioning big money signings, he provided the money, he did his part and did it generously. The choice of players is most likely nothing to do with him. a good chairman backs his manager and doesn't pick and choose players himself.

It was well-publicised after Hughes' appointment, but I don't have the time to look around for old articles. Apparently the 'interview' involved Fernandes and Beard setting out their vision for the club, persuading Hughes that his ambition would match the 'project'.
As for the second point, I'm afraid I just don't buy that 'the choice of players is most likely nothing to do with him'. Fernandes has always appeared to take an extremely active role in transfer deals, as the recent Samba and Remy signings illustrate (flying out to meet players etc).
Please do not misinterpret me - I am not 'anti-Fernandes'. I think he has the club's best interests at heart and, if he were to leave, we'd be in massive trouble. But, as Kirill has said, his personal popularity amongst supporters seems to mean that anyone who dares to criticise him is labelled as some sort of traitor to the cause.

He did apperently help HR out. The latter was knackered as the window at that time was about to run out.
