Away from all the negativity and Adel is a genius/cr@p threads, did anyone watch Valencia v PSG last night, champions league?

Dani Parejo was playing for Valencia and played quite tidy. Although PSG won (my outside tip to win the whole thing) Valencia wern't to bad and Parejo played decent.

I remember when he was here and all the 'he is useless' brigade were having field days on here about him. Now look at him Champions league player, playing for one of the better teams in Europe. Wouldn't surprise me if the same happens with Granero.

I had big money on Juventus and PSG to win both came in and won me a bundle.

Didn't watch the game but I agree PSG have potential of winning the comp but losing Ibra for 3 games is a huge blow and 1 that I think will cost him.

Same thing as Granero.

He looked ponderous when playing for us, because he was sharing a pitch with the likes of Mahon, Rowlands and Agyemang and was encouraged to knock it down the channels by Dowie. When playing with technically better players, who know how to move into space and create space for others, he looks good. Amazing, that.

Agree mate - I remember saying a few times in the past that he was almost "too good" for us in that he was looking to make passes that our players just weren't reading. As Geng says above; he was looking for passes to the likes of Agyemang who is noway on the same wavelength as him. He was obviously a talented lad and I think you're spot on with your comparison to Granero. In a decent footballing side without a relegation scrap hovering over em, I reckon Granero really would stand out.

On the subject of last night's game; didn't realise what a good player that Lavezzi is - he looked mustard. I know they're just throwing silly money around, but they actually look the real deal IMO and, provided their mega rich owners don't get bored, up sticks and leave, I think they'll be a real force in a couple of years. Some top players and bought some great young talent in the likes of Lucas Moura and Javier Pastore as well as some class established players like Zlatan & Thiago Silva.

Difference is Granero has been doing this for Madrid before signing for QPR. He played 60 games for them in the last 2 seasons in all competitions... you dont do that unless a good player.

Parejo was yet to break into their side, although was called the future of Madrid (or similar) by their legend Di Stefeno i thin kit was....

Saying that, Parejo's head certainly dropped on a few occasions, and I don't remember him being much use defensively. But he was clearly a very able player.

Yup. Makes me laugh when I see people on here saying 'Granero is a young player, its too early in his career blah blah'. The guy is already a proven top-flight player. Maybe it wont work out in the end with us, but he's hardly at a similar career stage to Parejo. He does share a similar playing style though

haha - Im sure quite a few people have placed bets on PSG and their Millions!!

Granero is this season's Buzsaky. People who understand the central midfield position love him, the rest don't ;)

I dont think its a coincidence that Granero has looked most comfortable and at his best when playing against good sides, City, Spurs, Chelsea etc etc etc. Those sides play good players and he's more at home working amongst them, rather than the likes of other sides with carthorses in their ranks who kick you 10 ft in the air first chance.

grannero is sharing a pitch with adel swp zamora cisse diakite and faurlin,he looks ponderous and uninterested because of these players is what i take you to mean....having a laugh mate..not worth a light. parejo was a talented kid in a team and division not suited to his style of play,but he tried to play all the same.adel plays in the same team and looks quality so why can grannero not do the same?he was awful against swansea and his defending for either the 3rd or 4th goal was just plain cheating..

Good post, Granero is very good btw. Parejo I thought was too good for QPR as other players couldn't read what he wanted to do, I'm glad he's doing well for himself

Granero is occasionally ponderous (and this is based mostly on a ten min spell against Norwich) because nobody was making runs so there was nowhere to pass. Unlike others, he doesn't just hoof it in these situations he tries to hold onto the ball until a passing opportunity comes up. Some people really are just uneducated about football, it makes me laugh. Go get some coaching or do some badges.

What planet are you from exactly..... Granero was anything but rubbish against Swansea and was the main reason we changed form a side with 0 shots and 0 midfield impetus or attacking threat in the first half, to one that had about 12 shots and totoally transformed 2nd half. Their 3rd goal was as a result of Onouha gettign runed cheaply and Cesar putting the icing on his reare bad display so not sure how that can be blamed on Granero. Their 4th was decent to be fair and a few players could've made it harder, but the fact is we were chasing the game and as a result had to take risks and leave gaps, which a team like Swansea can take advantage of.

Del - I am so tired of people on here who really know f-all about football. It's all very well having an opinion, but when people just make stuff up because they are angry about how things are going, or because they were brought up on midfielders who dive into tackles, it is ridiculous.
