The Championship

Want to be in the PL over the Championship obviously, going down surely our aim would only to come back up again? Or would we want 2nd tier mid-table mediocrity?

Saying that though, in ways the Championship is a pretty enjoyable league (well at least it was when we were winning it!) - plus it will be cheaper, hopefully.

Can't understand some people wanting to go back to the championship. Surely we want our club playing at the highest level possible?

agree........... BUT it would be nice to play at the highest level AND be reasonably competitive at the same time. We've struggled for two seasons now at the highest level without a hint really of showing we can compete consistantly at this level. At least we have half a chance of competing in champs and winning a few..and its a good competitive league and not a closed shop like the prem....yes, Cardiff seem to be running away with it this year but the second spot and play offs are changing nearly every week......looking forward to it actually.....IF it happens!!!

Personally, IF we go down, I am looking forward to the following in the Championship

1. Winnable games !
2. Reduced ST prices
3. Not having to watch Alan Shearer on MOTD
4. Rebuilding with a team of players who actually want to be at the club
5. Not being in a relegation battle all season (hopefully!)
6. More Saturday games

Would be great to stay up but if we go down and we are actually financially stable, then lets look forward to the revival of our club.

Prices will barely move am ****ed if I watching Championship football next season , I can barely bring myself to watch us anymore this season , might do the odd away game thats it. Crowds will fall to 13k , doubt we will see the PL again for a long time the future looks very bleak indeed.

People quote the teams that have gone down and not come back but there are a few teams that have over the years WBA, Bolton (previously) and Sunderland have gone up and down a bit.

Big difference from next year is that due to the massive increase in TV money the parcahute payments are not increasing at the same ratio, so being relegated now will hurt much, much more financially (comparatively) than it has since the big money came in.

So we will see a much bigger gulf develop, which is what the current PL majority (the safe ones) want.

Have they given any indication they are going to stop spending if we go down?
