  • Gone a bit quiet on the new stadium plans?

I know there are other priorities, small matter of prem survival, and the new training set up to get established etc, but still thought I would have heard more news about possible sites. Maybe it's been shelved for now? Anyone heard anything?

As inspiration for Phil & Tone, best stadium of 2012 shows all the biggest and best erections from last year, http://stadiumdb.com/competitions/st..._the_year_2012 Pleased to see my fav in there, Grand Stad Lille.

I think you've answered your own question Gezza
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Could it be that £300m seems a lot of money when the club is on brink of relegation? It makes sense to me!

Noticed this when reading the news this morning. Not sure if any of you saw this, on Sky Sports.

Until we can start filling little old Loftus road every week there's no chance.

lol! haha! good one, funny you say that haha, one of our (Grimsby's) crappy stands is called the Findus stand... maybe you knew that..?

I don't really look on other football forums, to be very honest this is the first time I'vr ever posted on another teams forums, but I kept tabs on the Odemwingie transfer saga, and caught my interest when you signed these new players, the West Brom lot really can't talk, when we had Alan Buckley as manager, and they (Baggies) approached us when both in the Championship to request permission to speak to him becoming West Brom manager, we didn't stand in his way, plus they took 3 of our best players at the time too. If a manager, or player isn't happy or want to progress their career in a different direction, or more first team football etc, I think they should be able to move on, but maybe QPR should have upped the fee to say 4 million...?

One of our Grimsby strikers was linked to Chelsea, and Reading last year Mind you he did score 60 goals in 2 seasons lol.

Even though your bottom, I still think you can keep up - need to keep this Remy character fit, he looks like a really quality striker judging from the goals i've seen of his on youtube.

I've been to a few away grounds, but nearest I got to QPR was around 1988 when I went on an outing to Lords Cricket ground, walked past the ground.

We have been trying for a new ground since the 90's, when we was in the championship... now we are in the crappy Blue Square Premier, and the stadium plans have only just been set down again - being built with a supermarket retail outlet - think alot of clubs going this route to help finance it, but doubt it will be a 24,000 stadium, probally 12,000.

Once you get a new stadium I bet your gates will increase to at least 25,000 if your in the premiership, maybe more with the huge catchment area, plus more away fans turning up too - 5,000+

of course we do have other priorites at the moment, but we still have to have some sort of plan for the future, and a new stadium must be past of that. How long do we wait.In 5 years, the potential sites may have been bought by somebody else,or the cost of land may even increase. And how logn do we wait until we establish ourselves?2 years?3 years?5?
from planning to building the stadium takes years.Suppose we do "establish ourselves" in the Prem, then we decide,ok,lets build it...in the time it takes,we could get relegated again. The likes of Derby,Boro,Soton,Wigan,Reading, have all survived releagtion in a new stadiumThe way people are talking on here, the only way we can justify a new stadium is if we can gaurentee Prem League status for the foreseeable future..no team(with a few exceptions)can do that.If other teams had that thinking,Reading woyuld still be at Elm Oark,Derby the Baseball ground,Soton, the Dell.Look at Brighton...thats the way forward

One of the lads on here, married a girl from Grimsby ........... Great do especially as we were all on micro-dots
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

Grimsby was full of cabbage farms when I drive through it before. Looked like a throw back to the 70s.

Used to work in a shop and at weekends we would have the market. 1 guy used to drive down from Grimsby and sell fish. I'll kid you not the bloke started to resemble a fish. Looked more like a catfish each time I saw him, quite weird but impressive

Phil Beard quite clear at Forum, even relegation wont bring a halt to either plans for Training Ground or new stadium.

Work on Training Ground due to start in spring, subject to planning but it does have support of the Council.

New ground, wont say where because if you do asking prices for site start to rise, four to five years away.

                              Weren't any of you listening?
