    HAH!

'Adel is useless at setting up chances'

*sees statistical evidence that he creates loads of chances*

'well then they're the wrong sort of chances!'

Seriously mate, give up. Wrong sort of snow on the trainlines yeah?

Being "good at passing to people who then shoot" sounds pretty much like what a guy in his position is supposed to do. If we had some strikers and wingers who were "good at shooting when passed to" then we'd be in midtable.

You can't infer anything about chance quality from those stats, you're just reflecting your prejudices again. If anything, most of Adel's chances created will be easier as teams tend to push up against us and lots of our chances come on the break. You'll also be surprised to learn Adel is behind only Santi Cazorla in terms of through-balls completed this season.

'Team goals' is a terrible way to assess whether Adel is creating chances. A far better way would be some kind of 'chances created' stat. Fortunately we have this. All Adel can do is set up Mackie, SWP, Cisse and co. Not down to him whether they score or miss.

      Sites interesting.

Shots per game: 7th in the stats (saurez 1st)
Key passes per game: 4th (Leighton Baines 1st)
Succesful dribbles per game: 1st (saurez 2nd)
Most fouled player per game: 7th (Danny Rose 1st)
Lost possesion per game: 17th (Aguero gives the ball away the most)

By the way, for anyone doubting WhoScored's methodology, or whether you can derive accurate assessments from stats, here's how they rank our players this season:

        Taarabt
        Nelsen
        Cesar
        Hill

Seems pretty close to most people's assessment of our best performing players this year, no?

Must be a mistake. He's making the wrong kind of saves! Stats don't tell us anything!

And whoscored works off algorithms that automatically rank these things based on statistical inputs, so its nothing to do with being entertained etc. All end product.
Does it take into account how many goals he's scored, how many shots at goal that end up in the stand, how many corners don't reach the front post or how many free kicks hit the wall?

yes, all of those things. And despite the negatives that you choose to highlight, stats still show he's an incredibly effective player.

We would have sold him at the start of last season as Warnock had grown tired of his antics and didn't believe, like many managers, that he could be a success in the Prem.

He has made it clear on many occasions that he wants to play for a top side, do you really think he would have signed a new contract if anyone was remotely interested?
If you cannot see the difference between Tarbs and Bothroyd, you are more clueless than I thought.

Without Taarabt we would not be in The Premiership and without him last season, we would not still be here.

                      Its that simple

exactly Pete, he's been our best player. I guess he will get slated because he missed a penalty but the bloke will end up playing champions league, and if he doesn't then it's a sad shame because his ability merits it.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

End of the day our best 4 players are Taarabt, Mackie, Derry and Hill and not one can beat those for commitment and passion.

Only Nelsen and now Cesar come close.

Does show you can have all the money in the world, though it won't always get what you want
