I guess time will tell, if we get relegated i think we'll get 18-20 million for Taarabt.
Think you all need to remember that Tarrabt best season was in Championship, done very little since, even Bothroyd had one good season in that league. To be fair they both have much in common, not many teams wanted Bothroyd at the end of that season and the same was true of Tarrabt, whatever he and his agent say. We would have sold him at the start of last season as Warnock had grown tired of his antics and didn't believe, like many managers, that he could be a success in the Prem.

He has made it clear on many occasions that he wants to play for a top side, do you really think he would have signed a new contract if anyone was remotely interested?

For someone so talented he doesn't deliver enough.

One key reason we haven't scored enough is that our 1 genuinely attacking midfielder, given licence to roam and a free role (Adel for the thick ones on here) is NEVER in the box. The number of times we have put decent balls across the box and there is 1 maybe 2 players getting into the box.

From a tactical point of view Adel is a square peg in a round hole. Naturally a wide man but incapable of defending we use him as a luxury with no defensive responsibility. This leads to our wide men having to work doubly hard to get up and down the wings. This is another reason why going forward we look so short. At times we have so many men behind the ball and that isolates the forward. This is not Adel's fault obviously but it creates a headache for the manager as effectively you are playing with 9 defensive players. Adel is the outlet yet he doesn't move the ball quick enough.
Did you copy paste this from something written in 2010?

Read my post earlier in the thread. Adel has created 4th most chances of any player in the league. Only Baines, Shorey and Silva are ahead of him. Do you really want a list of every one of those chances?

Why do you continually ignore this statistic? Adel is one of the most productive players in the entire league, whilst playing for one of the worst teams. That's pretty incredible, and I only feel sorry for you that you can't seem to appreciate this whilst we have him.

          Note also the contradictory:

Adel has no end product as he misses loads of chances! More than he creates himself for others!

          and

Adel is useless as he never gets in the box! How are we meant to score if our most creative player isn't getting in the box!

....see how those two things can't both be true?

I am amazed at this stat. Would love to know what constitutes the creation of a chance? If its a pass to the most advanced player on the pitch then it is no surprise as Adel is our outlet ball.

                "Key Pass
the final pass leading to a shot at goal from a teammate"

So Adel is 4th in the league at passes that lead to a team mate taking a shot. Despite playing in a team that gets overrun most games (easier to make key passes when you are David Silva and play the whole game on the edge of the other team's box). And you still think Adel has no end product?

And Adel has been our outlet ball in perhaps four matches this season, where he has played as a lone striker.

If it was really 'no surprise' then wouldn't you expect guys who play that role every week to be way ahead of him? RVP, Torres, Lambert, whoever.

Or are you just making up reasons to continue to justify your unfounded views?

OK taking your stats onboard, can you explain why no-one wants to buy him then?

This is such a terrible argument. Why not talk about Taarabt's merits as a player, or lack thereof? Just because Barcelona and co haven't actually moved to buy him yet doesn't mean he isn't a great player for us. I don't exactly see massive teams chasing after Jamie Mackie either, or anyone from our relegation rivals.

There is much to his game that is perhaps seen as too individualist for the massive clubs, where the focus is on team-play rather than individual moments. But he's perfect for a club like us. Why can't we just appreciate him? You have no idea how lucky we are to have him, both as an entertainer and as a guy to help us win matches.

I really doubt this is true, and to be fair it's a pretty pointless stat. Adel is good at passing to people who then shoot.
The quality of this chance creation is also pretty poor given the number of goals we have scored.

That site has him currently the 9th best player in the premiership this season?

whoscored.com is a respectable site. they have people analysing all the games. their stats are cited by newspapers, clubs etc.

Do you think they made up these stats? Did the guy covering QPR let his finger slip 2.8 times per game?

Go check it out for yourself:

I don't think that is implausible. People on here don't realise just how good he is.

And whoscored works off algorithms that automatically rank these things based on statistical inputs, so its nothing to do with being entertained etc. All end product.
