  • if we go down....are we different

first...my view...we fight all the way to stay up....no preparing for the drop....

most clubs that go down, put nicely, are in decline..other words skint.
cant hold on to their players when they go down

sometimes clubs go down for different reasons.
structural problems, bad luck...other words not skint.
these hold on to their players and bounce back...
it costs increased revenue in the short term but is
financially worth it in the medium/long term

that is the only relegation backup plan i want to consider
and i feel that is TF's plan too

If we go down it will be because Harry played too negatively. With the squad and money we have, Martin O Neill would have kept us up.

Not a fan of ONeill but I agree, I'd rather see us go down with fight and that means getting players in the oppositions box. We are stuck in a park the bus mode which is fine when we are playing man city but norwich, mackie upfront on his own is not acceptable. I am not a massive harry fan but he has my full support
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

irrelavent but since you bring it up...Oneill..good manager agreed..suppose he would beat chelsea, beat spurs (harry didnt do that), beat city(harry didnt do that either) obviously west ham
and norwich without doubt. Adel would have scored that penalty too if Martin was on the sideline.

                Grrrrhhhhhhhh
                !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nothing to do with hughes then, nothing to do with being nicely placed at the bottom of the prem as harry goes
                into the transfer market
do you not remember what average liverpool did to our team when harry tried to play open.
as harry said at the time, he tried to play open but there wasnt the talent in the team.
gerard said on MOTD..they would have scored more but harry was clever and shut up shop.

O'Neill is a manager that can work on a tight budget. Harry cannot. He only rescued Portsmouth when he had loads of money. Southampton he got relegated.

Some managers are better with money, others are better without. If Harry and O Neill both had loads to spend, I'd probably have Harry. If they're in the situation we're in when you need to work with the likes of Mackie, SWP and Bothroyd, I'll have someone like Martin O Neill.

What has Oneil got to do with anything??? Never linked to him were we? So why bring it up? Why don't we start a thread listing all the possible managers that could keep us up. While we are at it we can start another thread on the players that could keep us up and then another for new owners that could keep us up.

                          Incredible, isn't it.

But getting back on topic, I think you are right about keeping the squad together, as Newcastle proved when they went down, despite the efforts of the messiah.

And I think TF will want to retain as many good players as he can in order to go straight back up. I don't want to be too critical of him as he is a breath of fresh air, but he is not without blame in relation to the situation we are in. Again.

Last season was understandable to a degree, this season is most definitely not. He will want to put that right, not to mention protect his investment and his reputation. There are just too many good things going on behind the scenes which will benefit the long term future of our club, for which he and the board deserve the utmost credit for. Luckily for us, the only really bad thing has been the performances of the team on the pitch, which whilst hugely disappointing, even embarrassing, can be sorted. Personally think it is too late this season, due to allowing Hughes too much leeway and players not stepping up to the plate, despite all their bravado. Doubt if TF will allow the same mistakes to happen again.

i think his only plan can be to aim for an immediate comeback. i dont see the alternative..i may be naive but i dont really see the funding problem. i dont attach much blame on TF. that is down to the football experts.
i want TF to be hands off there. 20/20 vision in hindsight. i always think its easy for people to be really incisive with decisions both after the fact and when they have no (Tangible) personal risk.
