From the week prior to this (first link in the above article):

""I fined a player last week and he was earning more than any player earned at Tottenham. You shouldn't be paying massive wages when you've got a stadium that holds 18,000 people."

We just signed two more players on, at minimum, similar salaries to Bosingwa.

Nothing there about it being fine if the players are good enough.

Clearly the landscape (and Business model) is changing. I suspect TF acknowledges this more than HR.
Total Revenue now is much more related to TV rights than ticket sales. 18,000 would create a revenue of £7-10m per annum in my estimation. Compare that to the £60m for finishing last next season and the stadium capacity becomes less and less of an issue. I would guess even we can make money on those sort of revenues going forward.

Yes he did say that but did about 5 other interviews clarifying what he meant and how he had no problem people earning large wages if they pulled his weight. Do people think that a few posters are just lieing about Harry saying this?

Not really. That was Harry playing the media like usual - acting the good guy, trying to blame his predecessors. There is nothing to suggest that Remy will end up being a better player than Cisse. In fact, according to Remy himself, he has a bit of an attitude. He also has a history of injuries. Yet Harry is willing to pay him the same as Cisse. What if two months down the line Remy is all stroppy and not performing. Guess what? We'll have a Harry signing earning far too much money for the effort he is putting in - in other words, we'll still have an 18,000 stadium but be paying the wages we shouldn't be according to Harry.

                There - destroyed.

Yep, this is true. It's not the size of our stadium that concerns regarding our spending though. Its how precarious our Premier League existence has been, ever since we were promoted. Last summer we spent like we were an established PL side, not one that barely scraped through.

We're seeing lots of sides now cut back on spending as they know they can't compete with the top 5/6 sides, and the difference in rewards between finishing 7th and 16th aren't great enough. eg Newcastle, Villa. We're outspending these sides without ever being remotely assured of continued PL revenues (never mind whether we'll still have the backing of TF etc)

Couple of stats. In cisse's last full season without injuries before joining us he scored 3

In Remy's last full season without injuries before joining us he scored 29 ...

I agree on Villa but Newcastle have just spent as much as us. Southampton spent a fortune in the summer but no-one bats an eyelid unless it is us then it is all over the newspapers.
