I agree with OP for the most part but the trouble is who is to say had we scored against Spurs and City that they wouldn't have got a kick up the #### and then scored a couple themselves ? Yesterday I agree had Adel scored we would have won the game probably by a couple of goals as Norwich offered very little 2nd half.
I still think we have a chance to stay up and our run of games through March and April could coincide with others hitting a bad patch around us but we MUST start taking our chances, you cannot miss penalties in games you must be winning. Harry said yesterday we needed a break, well we got the break, being awarded the penalty, it was a great opportunity thrown away.
We are though a better side than our position suggests but it will be a hell of a turn round after the mess Hughes left us in.

We have a decent defensive record because our keeper has been fantastic and our holding midfielders have been excellent. We have defended well as a team, with players like Jamie Mackie who will chase back and do his bit at both ends of the pitch. But our back four is no great shakes, although it certainly seemed better with Samba in it. The reason we haven't been conceding is because we have been putting everybody behind the ball. And that is also why we aren't scoring. Once we stop setting up so defensively and set out instead to WIN games, THAT is when we will find out how good our "defence" really is. I personally don't think it will turn out to be "rock solid"!'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.
