It was a telegraphed penalty. I was behind the goal and guessed where it was heading. If you are going to make it that easy for the keeper to know where you are kicking the ball, it has to be hit a lot harder and in the corner.

I agree that perhaps Zamora should have taken it, but we all know that Taarabt appears to have the right to take every set piece, if he wants to (not that he is good at them though).

As I said, Tarbs opened his body too quickly. I admit that out of penalty misses it wasn't the worst you'll ever see, but I don't care about that. He should have the skill to bury it from 12 yards.

The POINT of penalty shoot outs is to settle a tied game. Not sure that has anything to do with the point Matty made if I'm honest mate. Personally as stated by others a free shot on goal from a dead ball should be put away every time.

The best penalties was alan shearers, he always shot top left corner of the post so no goal keeper could ever reach it. Quality.

As for yesterday, it wasn't the worst one I've seen but adel was too casual. I think the pressure got to him, really Derry should had taken it.

portugal missed pen, we needed gerard to score to move ahead and put pressure on next portuguese lad.....he misses. Yes he's got bottle but missing penalties happens to the best of them

Yes if placed perfectly with power it doesn't matter. With pressure of the kick, i think adel's aim was to put it low and on target....normally a safe bet. If he dinks it or blastsit then he could look an idiot if he misses target. Fine margins.
