I think it makes sense. He's the idal candidate and will be an ever present when fit for years, unlike Hill.
Nelsen was captain and obviously this was passed to Hill as a temporary measure once we knew he was leaving.... so assume Hill always knew it was short term and would be reviewed after the window, so shouldn;t demoralise him.
That said, wouldn't have done much harm letting him keep the armband for the season, except, now it will be easier to drop him if HR feels the need.

@pheling08 yea as number 5 shirt and captain
Is this the tweet?? Very disappointing if so. Am sure Clint will take it on the chin, but he really shouldn't have to. He's earned that armband the hard way. An has been captain here since day one.

Too much emphasis is put on a captain in football. Its' just an armband. Its' not like rugby where they have a role to play over and above the normal playing duties.
Clint is a leader regardless of having an armband or not and I'm sure he is big enough & ugly to not be upset at Samba having the armband - he will be his usualy reliable self regardless. I, personally, am not too fussed who has the armband. You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
