  • Yesterday/Tomorrow

First off, I haven't looked at any posts since yesterday, so I don't know what the general feeling is.

Looking back on yesterday, of course we're disappointed for not completing deals for Crouch and Odemwingie. However, looking at the day as a whole for all clubs, it seems as if everyone had the same problems. It was the quietest deadline day I've known.

If you would have said to me after the Liverpool game that in January we'd sign Samba and Remy, I'd have bitten your hand off. We have signed two massive players, that will improve us immensely.

Townsend is a young, hungry winger with great pace and ability. He wants to prove to the world he's good enough and I believe he's another good signing.

Jenas is a strange one, however, no one can doubt the lad has ability. He's won 21 international caps and was a firm favourite under Harry at Spurs until injuries kicked in. IF we can keep him fit, I believe he could prove to be a great signing.

Now, it would be have great to sign Crouch, Odemwingie and another defender. Actually it would have been a masterstroke but for one reason or another it didn't happen. Time to move on and concentrate on what we have, which is a decent squad and it will be enough to get us out of this mess.

    Goalkeepers: Cesar, Green, Murphy
Defenders: Traore, Samba, Hill, Ben Haim Suk-Young, Onuoha, Fabio.
Midfielders: Diakite, Derry, Taarabt, SWP, Mackie, Granero, Townsend, Jenas, Hoilett, Mbia.
Forwards: Johnson, Remy, Zamora, Campbell, Bothroyd.

I fully expect the above to be our 25 man squad.

Breaking it down, we have an excellent choice of goalkeepers.

We look very thin on defenders, however we've got Onuoha and Fabio who can play right back. Traore, Hill, Suk-Young, Fabio who can play at left back and Onuoha, Samba, Hill, Mbia, Ben Haim who can play in the middle. Unless we get injuries to a lot of defenders I think we'll be fine in this area.

Midfield is very strong. Taarabt, SWP, Mackie, Townsend and Hoilett can all play in the wide areas on either side. In the middle we have the battling skills of Diakite, Derry and Mbia and the passing skills of Granero and Jenas. I'll leave Park out for obvious reasons.

Upfront we have a potentially explosive partnership of Remy and Zamora with the hard working Johnson to return for the last few games, poacher skills of Campbell and a handful in Bothroyd if he decides he's up for it.

The majority of the season is left with winnable games. Games we have to approach to win, unlike our set up for the recent games against Chelsea, Spurs and City.

Fully fit squad, home games, my starting eleven would be:

    Cesar

    Onuoha, Samba, Hill, Fabio

    Mbia

    Townsend Hoilett

    Taarabt

    Zamora, Remy.

Onuoha, Fabio and Mbia would have to be very disciplined to form a strong defensive 5. The problems Townsend, Hoilett, Taarabt, Zamora and Remy can cause the opposition is unthinkable. It's a gamble playing such an attacking line up but we need to win games.

Away games I'd put Taarabt back out wide and drop one of the wingers to bring in Diakite/Derry to play in the middle with Mbia.

As for tomorrow I'm not sure what Harry is going to do. Zamora isn't fit enough and Samba looked like he was blowing in training yesterday and says he's not the fittest. However, needs must:

    Cesar

    Onuoha, Samba, Hill, Fabio

Townsend, Mbia, Granero, SWP (If fit)/Taarabt

    Taarabt (If SWP fit)/Campbell, Remy.

One quick note, let's not forget what that fat Johnson did to get Barton sent off last season, let's give him and the whole Norwich team hell. We need to produce the very same atmosphere that got us over the line last season.

    Come on you R'sssssssssss!

That line up at home looks like it would be a 4-4-2 diamond and can't see us playing that every game. Away I think Harry will go 4-2-3-1

Harry just said Bonsingwa is in the squad. Park is definitely in.

Townsend is under 21. Johnson out due to injury.

I think the squad looks good. Not sure how much some players get to play though.

Doubt campbell will be in it either - think he'll be off fairly swiftly when the loan window opens to blackburn!

Hopefully, he'll be banging in a hatrick for Millwall against scummy Luton in a week or two.

This would get completely overrun. Remember West Ham at home? Well, your plan would be to do the same, but with one fewer CM

What is there to stop opposition just running straight through the centre? Adel, when he tends to drift away from the centre? Hoilett and Townsend? Two wingers, best used out wide and certainly nothing on Mackie/SWP defensively. Then Mbia, alone, vs two runners. Disaster.

If HR wants to play 4312/diamond, it'd be:

                Zamora Remy
                ---Adel----
                Jenas-Mbia-Granero

Maybe Derry in for one of Jenas/Granero
