  • Now the dust has settled...

Anyone else feel a bit embarrassed about the shenanigans involving Odenwinge? Also the world and his wife slating our 'scattergun' approach to transfers.....

I know that there are reasons that we have to try and strengthen but if and a huge IF we can stay up then I really hope that Harry assesses the squad, gets rid of the deadwood and has a proper look at what we need to avoid struggling and looking desperate during forthcoming transfer windows....

It can't be any coincidence that established and well run clubs only have to add the odd player here and there, some fine tuning and pushing on as it were...

I know others will love all the attention that we get during the TW but in many ways I'd much rather we were far lower profile as it would mean that we're not struggling and starting to move in the right direction....

I think that should we beat Norwich tomorrow then we'll kick on and go on a bit of a winning streak... Ok, Swansea away won't be easy but I think we could go there and win and then we'd be set up nicely to welcome Utd and maybe cause them a bit of a shock....

Harry was looking a bit flat last night but he was probably knackered and cheesed off that we didn't get PO.... I trust and have been very impressed with Harry and fancy us to stay up....

    COME ON U R's....

no embarrassment about PO. We did nothing wrong. We made 2 offers, they turned them down. He wanted to leave them, he's under contract, they are not obliged to sell. They have to give permission and they didn't. We didn't ask him to come down here yesterday, he did that himself. Would have been a good signing but we move on.
Most disappointed that some R's fans are critical of our business. TF, HR, PB and whoever else have worked like dogs to get players in. It's not easy, we're bottom of the league, no prospect of European football (which the better players want) and we're asking people to come here, uproot their family (home, kids' schools, etc) and agree to a pay cut if we go down.
I've been involved in football and know it's not an easy as some fans think to get good quality
We should be grateful we have owners who are prepared to spend and put their own money in to help us get out of trouble. A manager who has better motivational skills than near enough anyone in football.
We should be united in our support of what these guys are doing. They know what's at stake better than we do.
Let's all get together and support our club whatever.

Fair points and I bow to your superior knowledge in this situation however, the point I was trying to make and maybe didn't make very well is that all this perceived desperate scramble for players doesn't reflect we'll on QPR and leaves us wide open for ridicule.... I was at the match on Tues and that was the best atmosphere we've had at LR for a long time and the players seemed to enjoy and appreciate the backing they were receiving.... I think Harry and his coaching staff are doing a brilliant job of restoring some pride after the shambles of Hughes' disastrous tenure and if we can replicate Tues night then teams will not get an easy ride and maybe we can perform the great escape.....

I generally feel embaressed by us after every transfer deadline day- we have become a bit of a laughing stock and need to have a look at the way we do business in the future.

I think we all accept our existing squad was not going to accumulate enough points and we needed fresh blood. We've got great supporters, great manager, create a great atmosphere but need to improve results and new players in gives a chance to achieve this. We all know this comes with no guarantees. Don't care about ridicule, only care about
winning games and getting enough points to stay up.
I know someone close to Aston Villa and my source tells me they've no decent money to spend. TF clearly won'y go down without a fight and good luck to him. He's in it for a lot of his own money (not borrowed) and wants to do whatever he can to save us from the drop. Not worthy of ridicule IMO
Anyway, we have plenty of players that are very saleable if we go down.
Cesar, Tarbs, Remy and Samba for starters. We'd get over £30 million for those 4.

It would not be like that if we were mid table - the problem is we seem to have a gun pointing at us in every single transfer window which makes it difficult to do deals. I think if Mvila had come in earlier and perhaps Cole we would not have been doing any more business after Samba.......but unfortunately it did not work out that way.

Embarrassed? Not at all, if anything I'm grateful we have a board who are willing to do what it takes to stay in this league. Mistakes have been made, no doubt about it and unfortunately we find ourselves in a position again where our current squad in January is not good enough. As you said, if we survive this has to be sorted out, we can't keep going into January, near the bottom and desperate for new players to get us out of a hole. Because ultimately each time we are just digging a deeper one.

Let's hope that we stay up and prepare properly during the summer and anything that needs doing during Jan 14 is to push us towards a European place.....
