The problem with the Magilton rant...

The performance on Tuesday was bad. I was watching the game thinking about where the team were going wrong.

The main problem I saw was the lack of players showing for the ball.

When you watch all the great teams, when any player has the ball, he always has 2 or 3 options for the pass.

Our players looked scared to get the ball incase they do mess up which was resulting in the fans getting irate.

The only players who i thought were always looking for the ball were Connolly (who was bringing it out of defence), Tarrabat (who kept dropping deep to recieve the ball) and Buzsaky.

Whenever these players had the ball there were half hearted attempts from others to get into a available position but no one was busting a gut.

Of course when a player makes a mistake the fans normally let out a sigh but if you know that your own manager is going to go out to the press after and slate you are you going to try and show for the ball or make those 50/50 defence splitting passes? Of course your not. You will look for the easy-safe ball every time.

Think about it in terms of your own job. If your boss went mouthing off to everyone about how crap you were at your job would you want to work harder for them? No!

To be honest I think it sorts out the men from the boys. Depends on how you approach it, if you are determined to prove your boss wrong you work harder, if you don;t care about it, then you won't bother. magilton will be looking for a response if he doesn;t get it, then players will be left to rot in the reserves or sold on.

This to me, is a good way of finding who takes criticism postively. Anyone watching that game, would know it was half hearted to say the least and if we were playing West ham (example) at home, they would have all tried to prove a point. They are professionals and should have that attitude against whatever team they come up against.

he needs to be given time because this type of manager who demands respect cannot instantly get success, he needs time, (sir Alex Ferguson at man utd)

Either way, it was interesting to see Magilton's honesty in a world when players and managers alike spout cliches to questions that are so predictable you can almost guess them before they actually do answer.

Yes i agree that different types of management skills suit different people but surely this isnt the time to be spouting off about argueably our best player.

I can imagine players like Ramage and the old favourite Delaney getting spurred on by the 'shouting' mentality of Magilton but dont you think its a bit risky doing this to players who lets be honest are far more valuble to the club then the manager. Just suppose Buz and Gorkss went and handed in transfer requests after this, would you be happy?

buzz was good a year ago;we are in the now not a year ago;players have to earn the right to wear the shirt week by week not what they have done in the past

It all depends on whether poor performance are the result of attitude or low confidence.
Could really damage players suffering from low confidence.
Players with poor attitude will either shape up and rise to the challenge, or throw their toys out of the pram and ask for a move.

I didn't go to the stanley match but I thought when he came on against Blackpool with Vine he helped change the game. He also had a fair game against forest but should always be in the starting 11 further up the field. I think mag does need to be careful. You shouldn't go upsetting the better players. He works hard and looks to me like the only player with any class in the final 3rd. If mags wants to go the #### kicking route maybe he needs to be introduced to Helguson and Dave ffs

i dont envy jimmy mag's task here if be told..............its many fans who believe we are better than we 'actually' are and there is a big problem!!!.......i didnt want magilton and i believe he should go if we fail to win in the next three!

there is my point on earlier post..............buzz aint as great pound for pound as many of our fans think..............adam johnson, ian nolan,joe ledley,chris brunt...........i could go on.............all vastly better players imho than buzz!!!

That is your opinion Mark but I rate Buzz better than most of those names. People need to realise what Buzz and Vine gave to the team before there injurys. They both were sorely missed last season and they had very bad injurys. Give them both a bloody chance and I mean on the pitch not the bench. There is protecting them and then just not knowing your best 11. Jim for me worrys me on that note.

Just like Vine, Buzsaky is coming back from a serious injury. In his case - two.

And just like Vine, Buz has earned the right from his displays and form of the recent past (when he was 100% FIT) to have a lot more patience and faith from some supporters of QPR.
Much more so than others in the squad that are under-performing. What's their excuse??

The sole reason for the dip in form from the pair of them is injuries. Not because they've become crap over-night. They'll get over that, and maybe then people will feel a bit daft for writing them off in august.

Akos Buzsaky is the best footballer at QPR - bar none, and deserves better than this, based on what he's actually done, and can do. And will do again... given a bit of something that most fans accuse the owners of lacking - Patience.
I admire Magilton for showing passion and honesty the other night, but I think there are others that could have done with digging out. Maybe because Buz has so much quality, it's his poor display the other night that is the most frustrating? But he didn't look too bad to me against Forest and Blackpool. Despite having his knee rebuilt this year.

I miss De Canio..... we played better football under him and we had a worse team! Also he could man manage very well and handle players...... which is something key in football.

Shouting and naming players will only make it worse IMO... I just hope he clamed down and tried to install some belief and confidence back in the squad, otherwise no matter who we sign it simply won't work!
