I attended the Accrington game on Tuesday and although the guys made hard work of it, I did feel that it was more due to the fact that many of of them hadn't woken up before they walked on the pitch. Yes, Accrington had quite a bit of possession, but not at any point in the game did I think that QPR would not get a result in the end.
Many players seemed to be treating it like a practice match which is obviously the wrong way to approach a game such as this.
Anyhow, I have a problem with some fans of our club. Not only during the game but aterwards on websites they are painting such a negative picture of our future.
In Buz, Vine and Rowlands we have three players that are coming back from serious injuries. They will never be back to their old selves over night no matter how much training they do. Anyone that has played football knows that match fitness a different thing altogether.
Then you go to the defence. Our defence was rock solid last season. There has been a bit of tinkering thus far this season, but even so, we have not let in many goals. People are giving Gorkks stick. My concern is that this guy is very much a confidence player. It is vital that the boo boys do not get to him. Furthermore, Damian Stawart has had no break over the summer. Bottom line is that our defence does not turn bad overnight.
In midfield, I am always concerned when I see Legs and Mahon together, however, we have so many skilful players either side that will click.
It seems to me that many of our fans are getting carried away with themselves. Yes I know Flavio has suggested there was a four year plan. I am sure that things arent exactly running to plan but stop swearing at the guy. He is as much passionate about our club as many of us.
Yes, we have all had to pay quite a bit more for our season tickets, but regardess of that, that has not brought much extra cash in. It does not take a rocket scientist to work out that these guys are digging deep into their pockets to provide with the team we currently have. Yes, we all want a few strikers that cost a few million each, however, we need to persuade these guys to buy them with their money. Calling the board all names under the sun is not the best way to persuade them to do this.
QPR should have been playing Division one football this season at best.
I am not asking you to lick the guys ####, but lets have a bit more positivity and see if that gets us somewhere.
