Seems stupid why Porto have accepted Napoli's bid as they wanted a permanent deal not loan?

Anyway, I'm a bit ****ed off with the way we're going about our business. We seem to be focusing on haggling on prices for weeks and then when we finally agree a price, the player has no interest in joining us. This is schoolboy stuff.

I'm not very optimistic we'll get Samba as I don't think Anzhi will sell. The next day or so could turn into a nightmare. We need defenders, quickly!

oh dear this is a significant worry now. Surely Samba was / is the least likely of the deals to happen - unless TF really is prepared to push the boat out, but how wise is that. If we don't get Samba or Rolando - then I guess M'bia will have to play central defence and we hope Diakite can up his game in MF on his return. Other option would be to have Nedum in central defence but personally, I wouldn't want to move him from his current position where he is playing very well. On top of that, any injuries and we are in deep trouble.

Unless Harry has another iron in the fire that's escaped the radar at the mo (is that even possible these days with agents leaking info to try and flush our more interest / better deals?)

Not sure how Samba was any less likely than this guy....? Samba apparently wants out of Russia so if a deal was agreed with his club he would probably return to any prem side, compared to Rolando who's apparently rejected our advances on at least 3 seperate occasions in the past.... to be honest, with this in mind i don't know why we've wasted any time on him at all.

I guess I was thinking purely from a financial perspective. i..e Samba likely to be big fee + big wages.

not worried about big fees and wages because there will always be clubs that will take these guys if the worst case scenerio happens and we went down

I haven't got any quotes to hand, hence said apparently, becasue i believe it's been reported a while back and quite commenly understood that he didn't realise the extent of the racism issue over there and would like to return to England.

Rolando is flying to Napoli today for a medical and will sign tomorrow. Loan fee is over a million and with a buy option of approx. 7m pounds. I guess he is lost now - so we can cross him off our list.
If Samba is not coming (which in my opinion is far from enough with only one new CB) I do not see where we should get quality CBs from?

What about looking at the Championship and get Scott Dann and Jordan Rhodes from Blackburn......yes I am "steaming" (poker expression) but it seems to me that our people are simply not getting the players to come..........The promise of an ambitious future "project" seems harder to sell in this transfer window. Understandable when you think about the plans could be set back for a number of years if we go down again.

Well it's made a lot easier regarding Samba when he has a release clause

Not too fussed on Rolando to be honest, he obviously didn't want to come and as Del says, I'm not sure why we persisted with someone like him.

We haven't hit Samba's release clause by luck so it's certain we've spoke to his agent etc so hopefully the move is all but agreed.

I'm wondering if Harry is happy to sign just the one central defender? Samba and Hill as first choice. M'bia can play there and also Nedum. I'd prefer us to sign Samba and another but it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't. However if we don't then we definitely need to bring in another midfielder and with Capoue being heavily linked that could be Harry's thinking. Although I suspect Harry is trying to sign as many players as possible
