  • Perspective Or Panic?

Like most people, I'd expect us to beat Blackpool, Plymouth and forest at home.

My main point, I guess, is this...we can all see that we have not started well, but do not adjust your TV sets, and certainly don't panic. We are more than capable of beating sides that are regarded in this division like Cardiff, Middlesborough, Sheffield United etc, and they're matches which generally brought the best out of us last season.

We will also have a run where we play the S****horpe, Peterborough, Palace and Barnsley in the next 5 games - and the rest of the top 4 will be in the position to lose points against other top clubs.

. It's 4 games in FFS - keep the faith.

Get some (at least 5) players out, get a left back and a decent target man in.... trim the squad down, settle on a team/system. Get some cohesion.

Then we'll be fine. Maybe better than fine.

At the moment it's all just ONE BIG MESS.

I said at the start of the season that your over optimistic, and I think I will stick by that. Unless there is a magic wand, I think we are going to be lucky to finish top 12!

Point is, this start was entirely predictable, on the back of possibly the most inadequate pre season schedule the club has ever arraanged, the late appointment of Magilton and the non appointment of two quality strikers.

On top of that, we have too many players wandering around looking overweight because John Harbin wasn't replaced, and we have too many players competing for places in midfield, leading to some of these players clearly playing for themselves rather than the club.

In short, our preparation for this season has been so half arsed it's untrue. It is no wonder that some players are wandering around playing like it doesn't matter, because that's the message that is being allowed to filter down to them. "Hey...three points from four games? Don't worry, we've still got another 42 to go."

The culture of the club if it wants to go places should be professional in everything it does. The message that should have been coming through to the players loud and clear since Day One of pre season training is "Squad, pre season schedule, fitness training....everything is in place right now to allow you to grip this division by the throat. Every time you play, your attitude has to be GET THE #### OUT OF OUR WAY, THEY ARE OUR THREE POINTS AND WE ARE TAKING THEM WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!"

Now, you tell me, forget the points for a minute...have you seen any performance yet that looked like that or not??

              Your'e absolutely right.

We need passion and team spirit and you have actually hit the nail on the end.

But, it is only 4 games in. We can turn it around.

on paper what's the difference between Blackpool, Plymouth, Forest & S****horpe, Peterboro, Palace & Barnsley, i'll tell you, none what so ever, we should be getting max points against all those teams (if we are going to make a serious go at promotion) how long will you give our present situation, 10 games, 15 games, before the knives come out for the manager (and not the catalist in our downfall, "your mate"

somewhere along the line we've got to look at other excusces & not blame the manager at every opputunity

but i won't hold my breath

Bernie is bang on - no panic but some of us expected this and tbh can't see it getting any better any time soon...

                    BTW - when's the 2nd striker signing?

Well I think he should have the minimum of 10 games for sure, but if we fail to win the next 3 league matches, then he will go....end of.

So it will be a lot less than 10.

I would rather he stayed the season, but, I think with the way things are I can see it ending a lot sooner rather than later...

Hes not my cup of tea, but what would getting rid acheive?

Who would we suddenly be able to find that we couldnt do 3 months ago?

On another note, if we have to play the better teams to play better ourselves, then thats so unprofessional its untrue.

neither perspective nor panic, more frustration. I know we'll finish up in a similar position to last year, its just frustrating that a shambolic pre-season in terms of fixtures and organisation will ultimatley IMO cost us a playoff place
Win or lose, on the booze

if the team spirit and passion isn't there now, why will it be there in a few games time?
