Rangers fans applauded Robinson’s League One heroes off the Loftus Road pitch after this victory put them into the fifth round for the first time in their history.
That ovation had Robinson recalling the time when he was seven and his dad took him to the 1988 final at Wembley — only to see underdogs Wimbledon grab a shock 1-0 win over Liverpool.
Robinson said: “I hated my dad that day. I was crying my eyes out and wanted to go home.
“I was a young boy and he made me stay and clap them. That stays with you, that’s loyalty for the team but also respect for the team you’re playing against.
“I think the QPR fans deserve a tremendous amount of respect for the applause they gave us.”
