  • Vine .. a positive ?

I couldn't get to the Acc. Stanley game but by all accounts Vine was having a right whinge at everyone.

He's also just said he doesn't want to go out on loan but wants to stay and fight at rangers.

Looking for some positives, couldn't it be argued that it's a good sign that he actually cares unlike a lot of our other players ?

I actually think he'll get back to form quite quickly and would complement Simpson really well

I think its a negative and keeping him could prove very costly this season. We need a second striker Vine was never the answer and he certainly isn't now.

Vine is definately nowhere near his best.Think a spell out on loan would go him good.We need to get a genuine striker in rather than have players like Vine who are not natural goalscorers.

          yeah

i thought vine was good as a left winger and he reminded me a bit of stan bolwes when he was running at players he certainly was a fun player to watch
but ive never found him a out and out goalscorer hes more creative than a finisher

Massive positive. For me Vine before his injury is the best front player we have had in many years. Not an out and out goalscorer but running from deep electrifying. We should be gradually building his fitness up and then unleashing him.

No point playing him in normal striker role. It just takes away his main ability which is running at defences from deep either in winger role or playing behind striker(s).

Fully fit and played in right role he could be the difference between a crap season and one to remember. Really hope he does fully recover and get his form back.

We also need fighters badly and he is one.

I think that it is great that he's shown some passion, it's hard to see if there is any passion in the team at all. I can't help thinking that loaning him out, even for a short spell would be beneficial to him and us as he would get back to his old self quicker.

Totally agree. His best games for us before his injury was when he played on the left wing. He will never be a prolific goal scorer.

****** he is being selfish if he cared about the club he'd go out on loan and prove his fitness and rediscover his touch.

Vine has showed no evidence of being a fighter this season, when I have seen him his whole body language screams charlie big potatas couldn't give a toss.

Send him out on loan to prove his worth if he doesn't flog him, too many supporters vision is clouded by sentiment.

Losing out on a second striker like Marcus Bent could see us slip into the relegation zone just because Vine has a point to prove.

No problem keeping Vine, we know he has the ability and as they say "class is permanent" and all that. My problem is saying we won't bring another in because he's staying. It is simple Pat A is not worthy of a place in the squad and shouldn't be counted as a striking option. I honestly don't ever want him in a Rangers shirt ever again after Tuesday night and would rather have Helguson up front with - well Helguson as his strike partner than have this useless waste of space on the books.

Rant (from a usually calm poster) over :very_sad:

I really rate him, but I am not sure if he is same after that injury, but I would definately keep him and give him a 5 match run in the team...

So when it doesn't work out and our season is over by October then what, do we rue the mistake of not signing a second striker at the end of August!

when he played for Luton in two seasons, he played 57 games and got a goal every 2.59 games , helguson at watford played 174 games and got a goal every 3.16, Ageymang's at Preston played 123 games and got a goal every 5.85 games, so two of our strikers have been "goal scoring" and you can see that in their records, that form has dipped recently and if we can regain it it could be what we need, I have more confidence in Vine then Helguson though

Hopefully the loan suggestion has woken his ideas up a bit.
