JM has only had 6 competitive games and has inherited a squad which badly underperformed last year and only scored in half the games which is pathetic with a side supposedly having so much creative talent.
If rumours are true we trued signing a lot of players in the summer but didn't get them which is not his fault. We signed a back up striker for £200k and that is all he is. May or may not work out long term. He was never one of our main striker targets. He needs to learn the English game and have time to fit in. We signed a midfield starlet I think it is fair to say we know nothing much about and again he will take time to settle in.
It will also take time for JM to decide on his best 11 and best formation. A pre-season and 6 games is not enough. Yes we have been **** poor this season so far. He knows this and has been very up front both on where he sees our overall and individual failings. It is now up to him to deal with it but this will not happen quickly so expect a long, hard winter.
We could always sack him and bring someone else in but the problems will be the same. I say let him get on with it and judge him once he has had a reasonable length of time. There is just no point continually changing managers. The thing we probably need more than anything is stability.
Signing Jay Simpson, assuming we have, will help. The kid has potential including pace to burn and could be just what we need. It is the balance in midfield which I find more concerning. We need to be controlling games more.
