  • Mackie v Lewington

Gonna be all about these 2 tomorrow.
I really rate Lewington and think he is probably 1 of the best left backs outside the Prem.
This is gonna be where all the action is tomorrow on the field.

After 5 mins we'll see Mackie is doing nothing and probably start bypassing him and playing the ball to the other wing.

Lets hope the bloke's fitted with bumpers then because Mackie will spend the whole game running into him...!

Don't give him stick, he gives his best every game. The point is his best isn't good enough for the prem imo. That's not his fault, nor is it his fault he's picked. He is way out of his depth in the prem and offers next to nothing with the ball and waste posessions constantly with poor decision making. Peaople go oin about the odd goal he scores, but given the chances any pro player should score the odd goal. I'm more concerned with the sitters he wastes when we cant afford to.

Can't that be said for all of our players? You've just described Taarabt to a t!

              Hardly.

I agree Taraabt can be infuriating, and i have slated him for being greedy or stupid at times, but he does have a place and of late has shown he's more than capable at this level and can play for the team rather than himself if he wants to. Mackie offers nothing bar running and energy.... although i also think at time he is clueless doing that when he'll run 40 yards across the pitch to get "near" a keeper following a back pass, which he is never going to get close to and then just ends up way out of position and our FB has 2 players to contend with. Sometimes it's best not to chase something you have no hope of getting, no matter how excited some fans get. Its about applying common sense and saving energy for when it can be used to better effect.

Very sadly I wouldn't change a word of Del's description of Mackie....

Exactly, seems like people would prefer Bosingwa to Mackie
                        Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                        And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

I always play, you should know that as all the managers love me, much to your disgust.

Could you remind me of when he has played well this season?

How many games has Taarabt showed he's capable at this level in 18 months? Probably count on one hand if we're being completely honest. Looking back on last season, his first main contribution happened against Arsenal in March. He scored the winner then got sent off against Spurs and that's about it.

This season he scored a great goal against West Ham and then again against WBA but then he went missing until the Fulham game. That game seemed to give him confidence and he's started to work a lot harder and become more involved.

However, just because he does a few step overs or occasionally nutmegs someone he's some sort of hero. Granted, I love him to bits because he's got the ability to change a game but if we're talking about consistency at this level, he's been poor since we've been up. I can count numerous times when he's given the ball away or not tracked back which has led to a goal.

Mackie might not have the dazzling skills of some of the others but he'd run through a brick wall for us and is a defenders nightmare, plus he's our top league goalscorer since we got back into the premier league. Put it this way, if everyone had the same attitude as Mackie then we'd be nowhere near the bottom of the table because hard work gets you everywhere in this game. Look at the best teams in the world, it's not all about their flare players, 90% is when they don't have the ball, watch how hard they work.

Finally, Harry has seemed to have got this into the players heads and all of a sudden we're getting results. Give me Mackie all day over 90% of our squad.
