  • tactical mistakes

Bearing in mind that we ditched Hughes 4-6 weeks to late (although I wanted him out after Man C at the end of the season and said so at the time ;) ) there is zero chance of survival unless 1 point can be turned into 3 on a regular basis.

Harry has improved things to the extent that he turned 0 points into 1 regularly - some of us were dissed on here when trying to point out how he was obviously a better tactician than Hughes, despite the compelling evidence - but he's missing something.

He is doing zackly what he tried unsuccessfully to do with Spurs: hang on to a one goal lead for too long. Even when managers try to do that for the last 15, by taking off a front man and bringing on an extra defender or tight midfielder, stats suggest that the tactic often misfires. It's madness to do this with us, because thanks to Hughes single points wont be enough, and also because we still don't have a top notch CB. We can not rely on GK magic. So by trying to shut up shop too early, Harry is getting it wrong. We are not like Inter under Mourinho. We just don't have the skill set, personnel or enough points to warrant it.

What you need when all hands are to the pump is an out, and if you take off the threat you don't have that. Can someone give the old boy a call and explain this. Cheers.

I know what you mean. QPR need to add some wins to the draws. They won't win enough games by hanging on to 1 goal leads. There'll be games where a 2nd goal is needed.

Yesterday, QPR lost the midfield because neither SWP or Mackie can keep possession and this resulted in constant West Ham pressure. Faurlin on the left and Park on the right would have been better at keeping the ball and allowing Taarabt the space to create chances for Remy. The way West Ham defended high, QPR could have scored 2 or even 3 goals.

Hopefully, Redknapp will change tactics for the Norwich game because I suspect it will be same again for the Man City match (at this moment I'll take another draw for this one although they are beatable if QPR attack them like they did last season under Warnock).

Agree with the subbing of Adel being a mistake when he was the only player on the pitch who could provide an outlet by holding the ball up, keep possession, and bring others in to play. Telling Mackie to stop running off the pitch when being subbed too.

What i think you have to remember is Harry is still using the same players that went a 1/3 of the season without winning. We all know he wants players in including mf's so just be patient

Agreed Dave. But even the greatest managers in the world aren't completely beyond having some of their decisions questioned occasionally, so long as it's constructive. I do believe he'll keep us up though, hence the avatar

I thought all of the midfield and attacking players were very ineffective second half.
To their credit they did the 'all hands to the pump defend the 6 yard line with your lives' type of work to great effect.
But none of them were able to hold on to the ball or escape the penalty area to any great effect and the whole team was penned back.
Made sense to keep Remy on to get 90 minutes into him but tbh the subs were about damage limitation due to the one way traffic more than anything else imo.

these self appointed so called experts here, who genuinely believe they know more than a top professional football manager, is laughable. The categorical statements like "Harry is getting it wrong" without a hint of self - mocking is unbelievable. You must all be in the wrong profession!!!!!

Only if Nelson or Hill are unavailable. And you?

A huge Liability and its no coincidence we do well when he is in a track suite. IMO, He can do one with Bothroyd as they both think they are better than they are.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. The reality that the current squad is not a top6 team just waiting for the correct tactics. It needs reinforcements to arrive in January to survive.
