You talk as if he's got some afinity with Newcastle and becasue he's turned them down has come to us just for money (if he comes). The only fact is you have no idea whatsoever. Newcastle mean nothing to him, are smaller than Marseille so size no relevance, he just wants prem football and probably a decent lifestyle, which hell get in London, which also is a lot easier to get back to France in no time.
It's hardly transparent that he must be a mercenary for choosing us over them. They have a bigger stadium and a few points in their favour. We have better lifestyle in London, better links and are a more in form side so may well overtake them soon.

I think you either know nothing about football, nothing about players or just nothing.
As for you examples of Scholes and RVP are totally irrelevant. RVP is one of the worlds top strikers and is reported to have got a deal worh £200k a week at Old Trafford.......so money nothing to do with it?? Scholes has also been massively rewarded at Old Trafford. They are not doing this for free. If Man U only offered 100k a week he would have gone to City or stayed at Arsenal. Sure there are some other factors that influence players, but money is the main one.
And what exactly was loyal about RVP moving to one of his clubs arch rivals? Not much.

Negatives
we have 30000 less seats
Positives
we are in london
we have the better manager
we pay more
we have the better training facilities in the near future
we have better owners
we are moving forward not backwards
we will offer a release clause

We don't live solely off of Greggs (OK I'm a terrible example of a person to be making this comment but it still stands).
We don't look like barcodes when we play at home. You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I think some people seem to have a difficulty understanding the concept of a mercenary, so maybe I should clarify.
A mercenary is someone who is there purely for their own benefit.
So for example, if say RVP is playing at Arsenal, and Man Utd come in with a bid where he would earn a lot more, and he finally decides to leave because he thinks he cannot take Arsenal any further, that does not mean he is a mercenary. Had Arsenal been competing at the top and had he thought Arsenal could win trophies, he would probably have stayed there as he has a genuine love of the club. But he wants to play at the highest level and win things - that is not a mercenary, and no one would begrudge any player for that.
Now imagine RVP had started off playing for QPR, and was on 30k a week, and then Man Utd came in for an offer that would put him on 200k a week. And so he moves, to earn more money. Once again, that is not a mercenary. We cannot pay him the market rate he deserves, and so he has every right to go to a club where he could earn a lot more.
Now imagine that Taarabt is being paid 50k a week, and suddenly Reading come in for him and offer him 60k a week, and he leaves. Would that be a mercenary? YES. I would be mad at him. Because he is already earning 50k a week, and he should be willing to show loyalty to the club and help us out, and not go to a rival.
And that is why I feel Remy is a mercenary. To say he came here because we are a bigger club than Newcastle is rubbish. Their team is full of quality, ours is full of sh1te. Who is our best player? Tarbs. Is he better than Ben Arfa? NO. Who is our best striker? Cisse - is he better than their Cisse? No. Coloccini, Orbetan, Kabaye - these are top quality players. And Remy and his agent knows this, and this is why he wanted to go there. The only thing that swung it to us is that we offered him more money after he had rejected us. And that is mercenary like behaviour.Last edited by Marshy; 15-01-2013, 02:28 PM.

Looks like you know nothing about football if you think Arsenal have been Man Utd's arch rivals for the past 5 seaons!
