What a naive OP Marshy. He is not different to 99% of football players. They come to clubs for money. Some are lucky enough to be good enough to go to clubs that win things for money, but it is still money. They bleed every penny that can out of clubs (in other words fans). There is little loyalty and to dig out a player who we hasn't even signed yet and start a forum campaign against him is ridiculous and negative.
You may recall a couple of QPR players that helped us out, but that is rare and less and less common. Foreign players have no loyalty to a club they have barely heard of - that is the way it is.
Give the bloke a chance if he comes here. Do you think Derry would play for peanuts because he is a good old British grafter type? Get real.Last edited by silvercue; 15-01-2013, 09:27 AM.

We all want the highest possible salary don't we? I don't see a problem when a player looks for the best deal but If this is only facor here comes the problem. If a player signs realising he will sit on the bench and only pick up salary that makes him mercenary. If he purposley doesn't perform, doesn't care in the pitch or doesn't try his best, that makes him mecernary. If he does not respect the manager and his team mates, that makes him mercenary.QPR fan since1987

It seems a lot of people are overlooking the likelihood that any incoming players contract is going to be geared around performance targets.
We might not have got what we wanted previously but TF and HR are walking into this current situation with their eyes wide open. This time around it most certainly wont be "here's £65 grand a week son sit down relax and don't give a ****."
Of course the players will be on a tidy sum, but being a success, scoring, points bonus etc will be where the big money will be for them.
And I'm fine with that.

Jesus Christ.
Can we let the bloke play a game for us before branding him a mercenary? 1) That article is quite clearly making up his wages. "We understand"... They aren't Remy, Beard or Remy's agent so, no, they don't know what was agreed yesterday evening. 2) Why is he a mercenary? Why is every single foreign signing seemingly branded a mercenary? Do we need to buy players from Port Vale for them to not be branded a mercenary? You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Do you expect him to turn down QPR and join Newcastle for less money just because they have a bigger stadium? Should he ignore the fact Newcastle sold their top goalscorer, their captain wanting out and ominous noises from Ben Arfa? You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

What I did say was, when you're earning so much already, money becomes much less of a factor than your career.
He clearly was going to Newcastle because he felt they were a bigger club with a better future, but his decision seems to have changed when he was offered more at QPR.
Now, I can bet you my bottom dollar, if RVP was offered more money at QPR than Man Utd, and could earn more here, he would still have joined Man Utd instead of QPR.
So it seems like you're extremely naive and read too much Daily Mail if you think 99% of players just go for the money.

Also selling Ba, dropping like a stone and Ben Arfa saying he might want out (as does Colocinni) due to lack of ambition? Not the most appealing prospect in the world. And, yes, we are even less appealing to most I know, but just tryna say that it's not like he has turned down a high flying club like Spurs for us is it.

If I was not a Ranger, and was a top professional footballer, and someone said I could make 7 million at Rangers or 5 million at Barcelona, I would go to Barcelona, and I would not be alone, Hardly wanting the highest possible salary, is it?

Look at RVP, he had many offers for years, but he stayed at Arsenal, because he wanted to win something with them. It was only after he realised that he was getting older and would never reach the top with Arsenal that he decided to leave. Therefore, not a mercenary. And there are countless examples of players who could have earned more elsewhere but stayed where they were or went to another club where they would earn less.
It is clear Remy is just following the money, whether or not he is a professional, is not the point. I'm not having a go at him, just stating it as it is.
